Riu Bambu All-Inclusive Resort, Punta Cana

Everything, Service was less then poor, staff inappropriate sexual, on cell phones, ignored, not happy. Fans and lights are always off. Beach and Grounds were filled with garbage over flowing and gross. Rooms, Moldy Beds, Toilets, Stained Sheets and Smoke smell. No Ocean View Far Walk from room to beach. Food is horrible, not kept cold enough made use ill. Managers didnt help us multiple complaints and worst experience ever. Sunwing rep even told us first thing said during the intro session this is not a 5 star. Book your own travel and stay at the newest hotel built they have the best everything and take all the best staff from all the other hotels.

First off by the second i got to the resort my family and I were greeted and given drinks. The food was very good! Some reviews disagree, but I thing it was great! The beach was MAGNIFICENT. White sand and palm trees and the water was crystal clear! Some days the water was rough, one day a wave came up about 8-9 feet! The hotel itself was very clean. Beautiful scenery and atmosphere. There were two big main pools which had a swim up bar, the drinks were great, for children too my son loved the smoothies! Nothing was better than this trip. IF YOU WANT AN AMAZING VACATION, COME HEEERRREEE!

i had to fly out there it was not planned but when i did get there and had sorted things out that i had to i thought the staff were really nice and the hotel was really nice to the entertainment was good to i thought and evryone had a smile the only thing i did not like was the food, i loved the place and the beach i would go back again

It was the best vacation of my life. I read the other reviews. Utter nonsense. The hotel is elegant, the food amazing, each time a new one. Full variety. Wonderful service and very good animators and dancers. The beach - all super.

Just got back after spending 7 great days. Anyone with a negative review has a personal problem! Were there Jan 10 to 17 and weather was perfect, 85 to 90 every day. Rooms were clean, beds were comfy (if you like hard mattress), and food was super. No shrimp, tho....what's with that? If you want wash cloths you must ask; otherwise you will get hand and shower towels only. All staff were friendly and helpful. Neet sports bar with any drinks you want, if you can get your idea across to the bartender. Island swim-up bar was a blast but got a little rowdy one afternoon. Beach was beautiful, with a warm sea breeze every day. Evening shows were spectacular with extremely talented dancers and great music. Would go back in a heartbeat.

My family and I went for Christmas and new years and had the time of our lives. Thankfully we didn't read the horrible reviews beforehand because we wouldn't have gone. We found the food to be very diverse. My younger brothers who don't even eat the food here, ate like pigs. The entertainers were really funny and knew how to give us all a good time. The bar tenders and waiters were absolutely wonderful and always had a huge smile on their faces. The cleaning crew were even very friendly and cheerful. I would recommend going there to everyone. It's a great place for kids and adults.

I am not sure where the 3 people who reviewed the Riu Bambu went but we, 4 of us, had a great time there. Our room was clean, the grounds were clean and the people mostly were courteous. We did have an issue with the food. It seems they cater to the Europeans as far as food goes but we always found something yummy to eat. I would recommend it to other and it was well worth the time and the money. They are closing the resort down April 8, 2010 to do a major overhaul of the entire resort. When I read the reviews before I left I was really skeptical about the whole thing and went thinking the worse but was presently surprised at how great it was. I feel the bad reviews are unjustified. Will go again in a heart beat.

We were 2 couple going there in November 2009. Rooms are very moldy, bed very unconfortable, pillows dirty. Our friends were 3 days without hot water and then once that was repaired, they had no toilet working. Food is terrible; only the salad bar is good. We paid a good US$ tip to be booked a la carte and assured it was steak night: when we arrived, they could not find our reservation but luckily we had our coupon to prove we had reserved. We got in but it was not steak night but fish night. On top of that, my spouse took some noodles with fish and the noodles were all stuck together and dry; no sauce left. It was something prepared way ahead. He returned his plate but the server told him he could not have anything else and sent him to get a salad at the salad bar. We were celebrating our friends' 35 year wedding anniversary that night. It was very dissappointing. Prices at the convenient store were outragous: a little bottle of sun screen lotion $23 USD. Oh yes, they only want USD as cash payment or for tips. We even had trouble with reception desk as they did not seem to be or willing to speak English to us. The only nice people were the cleaning ladies; they did not ask anything but everyone else were asking for tips. There was never any beach towels in the pm but somehow when we flashed a $$, we always got some. I will never return there. This place needs to be reviewed because it is not a 4 stars hotel; not even one for this kind of rooms or food. Very dissappointed.

if you like cockroaches this is your place, they are everywhere, in the rooms, on the grounds, my girl killed one on the bar one night and i killed several in the room. we put the luggage in the garage when we got home and washed everything we took befor bringing it in the house. the al a carte restaurants are terrible, self serve salad bar and terrible beef, tastes like deer meat and its terribly spiced. the italian has no italian on the menu, closest thing is seafood pasta, we walked out without eating. the buffet is terrible also, long lines to get hot foods, worst pizza i've ever had, terrible quality beef and no salad dressings, the worst tasting pasta dishes in the world, the pasta in cream sauces tastes like pasta in warm milk, no flavor at all, the red sauce was terrible also, beefaroni tastes better. fish was good but it was fishy tasting most of the time. no sit down restaurant on the property. their are only 2 places to eat here, the mama juana is a terrible buffet by day then it turns into a steak house on one side, and italian on the other side at night, then back to a snack bar til 2am, food in that building was terrible, the other place to eat is the colonial, it's a buffet also, on 1-21-10 and 1-22-10 we went to buffet for breakfast, i wanted bacon and eggs, no bacon both days, no fried potato's either, they has french fries and mashed potato's on friday morning, and one omelet station for 1000 people, long lines again. no tennis courts, no doctors office and no gym on property, you have to go next door to use those facilities and its a long walk, they have tennis courts at riu bambu but their are not working, they do not have an on site medical building. and they claim to have exchange privileges with the riu next door, so we went to the caribe grill, got a plate of food and sat down and the asked us to leave, we were embarrassed. this place is awfull. if you go to the beach they have no bathrooms by the beach, its a pretty long walk to get a drink and use the bathroom, the men's room smelled like a zoo every day, the pool is filthy, filthy, unusable. you need to rent a special adapter to plug in a cell phone charger or anything with a bigger plug, the receptacles their are recessed, 2 prong only, no ground. they were renovating the building across from our balcony, hammering and banging began at 8am every morning, and don't bother to complain because they don't care, you will waste your whole vacation complaining. the rooms are small and the beds are not comfortable, hot water is hit and miss, strong sewer gas odor everynight. at 8:30 am they have someone opening your door, they don't knock first they just come right in, i think it's the mini bar stocking people because rooms were not cleaned until 3pm, and please note, they have no inside locks on the rooms, no chain, no deadbolt. anybody could just walk in anytime, i stacked the suit cases in front of the door so it would not open when we slept, it's a bad place. if i must say something positive, the beaches are nice and the sun feels good. some of the entertainment was good but someone in the production company insulted my friend for no reason, that made her very upset, she complained but nothing came of it. i have attached the munu's from the "so called" italian and the steak house, if you read them their is no italian on the munu at all and the steak house server "pork consisting chops"? what is that please. the pictures atached were taken in our room, this thing was cawling up my arm while i layed in bed.

I was quite unhappy with many things in this resort! First our room yuck! the sheets and bedspreads stained and the mattress so uncomfortable the a/c barely worked the ceiling fan made lots of noise no fan in bathroom the worst was the smell musty and old. Lets move on they advertise 24 hour room service not and the 24 hour drinks no it shuts down at 2:00am at the latest. The entertainment sucked all week and the drink dispensers half the time are empty annoying!! The pool well not impressive at all not very clean I only went in twice all week! The meal hours well it sucks if you have kids breakfast not late enough and supper too late 6:30pm! Overall very disapointing for us we did enjoy the beautiful beach and hot sunny days but I won't be returning any time soon! Hope others have a better time at the Riu Bambu than we did! T.T
