La Quinta Inn & Suites Portland Airport, Portland

I've never stayed at a place that is as friendly to me and my dog as this place and I so appreciate it. Traveling with a pet isn't always easy but they make it so much easier. I really appreciate it and wouldn't stary anywhere else.

My family and I stayed at nine different hotels in sixteen days and surprisingly all of them were great (thanks in part to reading reviews from fellow travelers at TripAdvisor). The La Quinta Inn & Suites – Portland Airport rated near the top of the hotels we stayed at. For three adults, the AAA Rate was $85.05, including taxes. The non-smoking room on Floor One (which was actually the second floor) was very large, and included two very nice beds, a clock radio, two chairs, a desk, a large television in a cabinet with remote, a mid-size refrigerator, a microwave, and an iron and ironing board. The carpet on the floor in the room seemed a bit worn and had bulges in it. The bathroom was extremely large with lots of room to move around. It included a hairdryer, a coffeemaker, and one bottle of shampoo. The sink was in the bathroom and the shower/bathtub had a handrail. While walking to our room, which was at the end of a long hallway, we noticed that the ice and vending machines were just outside our door, as were the stairs to the parking garage. I thought to myself that this would be a long night, as we would hear all the noises associated with these machines. To make matters worse, my family and I were able to hear the airplanes fly over the hotel during the day, and I thought of how little sleep we would be getting. Either we were tired or the planes stop flying, but we heard nothing all night and had a peaceful rest. From what I understand, Portland can be quite a rainy place, so you will be happy to know that the hotel has some limited parking stalls underground. Otherwise, parking is at a premium, so you might want to arrive early for the best spot. The hotel is near the airport, and provides free shuttle service so you can catch your plane. Also, the continental breakfast starts at 4:00 am local time, for those catching the early flight out. However, it is not the most convenient hotel around. While it was easy to find, just off the Interstate, it is in an industrial area with very few amenities (like restaurants) located nearby. Despite this, the staff was very obliging and helped us find the local grocery store, and even showed us a menu from one of the local restaurants (Shari’s - which we ate at in the morning and it was very good). Overall, we found the hotel to be just fine for our needs, as it was clean and surprisingly quiet. It caters to those heading to the airport to catch a plane, but will do nicely for those just wanting a place to sleep for the night.

The staff was great and very accomodating to the group of stranded travelers we were! They shuttled us to and from a nearby restaurant, late at night and just really took good care of us in general. Hotel is very near the airport. Room was very clean and comfy.
