charged for family to swim! Ridiculus, gross unclean rooms, horrendous front desk service. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!

I called the Country Hearth Inn and Suites in Mexico, MO to make a reservation for the two separate stays about one month in advance. I had stayed there on the 11th and 12th of February and was not impressed. I tried to cancel my reservation over two weeks in advance for the 11th-12th and the 20th of March. When I called the hotel they said I made the reservation online, but I made it by calling the hotel. They had me call the 888-443-2784 to cancel. They had no record of me ever making a reservation. After making about 6 phone calls to the hotel and the 888 number. The hotel finally said they had a secret code they could use on line to cancel my reservation. By this time I had forgot to mention that I would like to cancel for the 20th of March. I did mention this in my first few phone calls. By the end of the whole thing I was very angry. I have been charged for the 20th of March and was not at the hotel. I am disputing this with my bank. I called the hotel because they did offer to let me stay one free night. When I called to take them up on their offer without writing this email. They informed me that the weekend I wanted to stay was not available because it was a busy time. That is why I stayed at the hotel in the first place. My son attends the Missouri Military Academy in Mexico, MO. I visit him on family weekend. This was a horrible experience and I will never have any thing good to say about this hotel. I wanted you to know of the bad impression this hotel has left me with. They are very unprofessional hotel that carries the name Country Hearth Inn and Suites.

Calling in reservations was a little iffy initially as they answered the phone "Hello" and I had to ask if it was the Country Hearth. No reservation number or anything given when I asked, but much to my surprise, when we got there our reservation was correct and the staff was very nice. The heated pool was my favorite part of the hotel. The rooms were clean and there was a mini-fridge. We've also stayed at the Best Western further down the road past Wal-Mart in Mexico. When we stayed at Best Western, we got a King-size bed and the room was divided with a waist-high wall. If I was on the bed, and my husband was in a chair, we couldn't see each other because of that wall. When we got the King-size bed at Country Hearth, there was a nice recliner next to the bed and no wall between the two. The Country Hearth beats them hands-down.

The overall stay was good and i stay there often but they do not know how to get my reservations right, almost every time i stay there they get my reservations wrong.....they dont have it when i get there and it takes forever for them to find it, but overall i like it.

The only thing I did not like is that the rooms smelled like smoke the entire time there. I cannot put up with my room smelling like smoke all the time. Not everybody like to smell someone smoking. The rest of the stay was very comfortable and enjoyable. I will rent a room again this summer.
