Shanghai is one of the largest cities in China. It is located at the west coast of the Pacific and in the middle of China's east coastline. It is also at the mouth of the Yangtze River. Shanghai occupies an area of more than 6000 sq.km and consists of 18 districts and 1 country. It has a population of 16 million. Shanghai has a sub-tropical monsoon climate, which is warm and humid. It has four distinct seasons: a short Spring and autumn, and a longer summer and winter. Shanghai is also called "Shen" and "Hu". In 1843, after the Oplum War,Shanghai became an open port by the colonialists and many concessions were set up. Then it was known as "a paradise for adventurers". In 1949, Shanghai was liberated. Today, Shanghai become a very important city in China. Shanghai is China's comprehensive industrial base. There're 6 leading manufacturing industries in Shanghai: Automobiles, electronic communication equipment, complete sets of power plants and large-scale electric and machinery equipment, petro-chemical and refined chemicals, iron and steel and household electrical appliances. Shanghai is China's prime commercial center and trading port, Especially Pudong New Area, the largest Economic Development Zone. For example, Lujiazui Finance and Trade Zone . Now Pudong New Area is a paradise for investors orom home and abroad. Shanghai is one of the cultural centers in the country. You can see many cultural palaces in the city, such as Shanghai Library, Shanghai Grand Theater and Shanghai Museum . Shanghai 's urban construction is quite great. A fine collection of buildings of various periods and styles can be found. Like the Bund, the Oriental Pearl TV Tower and the 88-storey JinMao Tower. Magiclet, five bridges,two subways, a light-rail system and elevated highways form a multi-tiered traffic system. In a word, Shanghai is a melting pot of eastern and western cultures and is famous for shopping, dining and entertainment. It can meet the needs of all kinds of tourists.

I did not stay at the hotel, but I ate dinner at the Italian restaurant on the 56th floor. I ordered the lasagna, and it was horrible--the most bland, overcooked lasagna I have ever had. I tasted like burnt cheese and hamburger marinated in canned tomato paste. Chef Boyardee has more flavor! I didn't have time to wait for them to make me something else--which they kindly offered to do--so I powered through it and ended up wishing I had eaten at McDonalds instead. Even though the main course was bad, the garlic bread was to die for--very good, but not worth having to power through a bad main course. The views were also to die for. We had a view of the TV tower, which flashes every color of the rainbow at night, and it was really spectacular.

Hotel has a lot of staffs, but don't provide the hospitable services that are accustomed to a 5 stars hotel. Hotel has nice facade, but lack the feel of world-class place.

The rooms at the Grand Hyatt are very high up, and there are times when the cloud level is so low that you actually have no view - funnily enough. The hotel is standard 5-star, but there are a few design elements I disagree with. Some of the rooms can be a bit cramped which is surprising. The hotel has a spectacular atrium which runs up/down the whole section of the hotel.

having stayed there twice i would never go back again, inpersonal, bad restaurants, slow service, expensive and even though you stay in the hotel the restaurants cater to local chinese first, then the guests. i am platinum with hyatt but will never stay in this hotel again.gym is a waste of time it is basically the same size as a hotel room!! lots of new hotels who will appreciate your business.

This hotel was excellent. The room had unforgetable views, comfy bed, great amenities. Excellent views and a great bar. What more could you ask for??

The Highest Disappointment in the World I stayed at the Grand Hyatt last week and found it to be a relatively disappointing experience. My room had a myriad of problems � the toilet didn't flush well, the shower had leaks and squirted water all over the place, the water drained slowly from the bottom, the curtains got stuck when you tried to open and close, a couple of the lights were out, etc. Most importantly, I had a real hard time connecting to the internet. I'm an IT professional and I spent hours over the phone with their help desk until they resolved it on their end. In addition, like and idiot, I forgot my toiletry bag. I was traveling to Beijing and I called them from the airport and asked them to send it express before I leave China. I told them that I would pay for the shipping. They emailed me to tell me that they forgot, they've sent it out and it should be in Beijing the day after I leave China. I would be mad if I was getting that kind of service from Holiday Inn, let alone a hotel like the Grand Hyatt.

Shanghai has become one of the most aktive and interesting metropole in the Far East. I was so impressive about the amazing emerge of this pole. Many services and the business climate here suit for the engaged people like me.
