satisfied stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/14/11
We stayed at this hotel in November, 2011. The stay overalll was good. They offer a free breakfast which was good for us not having to pay for it. The majority of the front desk staff gave us good customer service, very attentive to our needs, i.e. extra towels, etc. I believe the stay was worth the money we paid for the room.

Pathetic
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/6/10
The place was like a 20 dollar hotel. Breakfast was the same everyday. Pool was small. Poor plumbing. Poor service. Just all around poor. My car was damaged but they had no security. Also i saw a worker just get up and leave. If you want to stay in san antonio dont stay at this place.

Terrible service
By Sharon, 7/16/10
My family and I stayed in a suite that had 3 queen size beds and even though the room wasn't too terrible the front desk staff (Will and Anthony) were. It took a while before anyone even came to the front desk so we could check in. When my daughter called the front desk to ask what time the continental breakfast was served the next morning she was told that there was no free continental breakfast and that she would have to pay for it. My son went downstairs to check with the front desk clerk about the breakfast and was told that they did serve breakfast and it was free and that he was just kidding with my daughter. Of course she did not know this because he never told her that he was joking. I don't know if this is a family owned hotel or what the problem is with the front desk staff because they don't seem to care about their customers. When I tried to pay with a $100 bill at check in, I was told they didn't have change and to go to the convenience store to get change. When you even go to the front desk there is no one around and you have to wait on somebody every time. At check out I asked for the front desk employees names and he just groaned and said that everytime somebody asked for their names he knew they wanted to complain. Also, it made me uncomfortable knowing that there is no one at the front desk for long periods of time. Don't waste your time and money on this hotel, I'm sure there are many other hotels that care about their customers.

How Rude!!!! What kind of manager runs this place?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/19/09
The hotel was great, the General Manager was the rudest man I have ever met. All of the other staff were terrific. If I owned this hotel I might be looking for a new General Manager. The way he treated us was an outrage. There were about 4 other families that were treated the same way we were. I will not come back as long as that man is working there, and I will let ever one I know to not stay as well. He treated his guests terrible and simply could not even speak nicely to anyone. It was unbelievable. I think that being nice to your guests is one of the most important qualities in a hotel and we certaintly could not find it with Mr. Jones. Like I said the rest of the staff that we encountered was wonderful. It was just that rude man that was terrible to everyone and made us feel so unwelcome at The Antonian.

Perfect
By Laura, 6/25/08
My husband stayed at this hotel on our honeymoon. It is nothing fancy. We ate at the Authentic Mexican food restaraunt next door. Then got up the next morning and eat breakfast at the hotel. The breakfast was excellent. They had tortillas, beans, eggs, pancakes, salsa, cheese, bagels, cereal, and bacon. I have stayed at some nice hotels and never been served food like that. The hotel was very clean. The staff was helpful. We payed $75 for a room with two queens sized beds.

Good price and great service
By Erika, 3/19/07
I really like the home feeling that this hotel has(it is small but cozy). We didn't encounter any rudeness of any sort, in fact we were treated with respect. The clerk staff was awesome especially Will, who went out of his way for us. When we checked in we asked for an additional pillow because we had a third person and within minutes the pillow and an extra towel were delivered to our room. The breakfeast was awesome..were can you go where you get a full breakfreast for free. They offer eggs, potatoes, pancakes, beans, bacon, muffins, coffee, juice etc..and it was made fresh daily. We stayed at the Antonian for a three day conference and look forward to staying there again.

Not so great customer service..
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/22/06
The rooms were very clean and spacious. My family and I were not treated with respect and were ignored twice after speaking with management about staffing. This Hotel was recommended by an officer stationed at Fort Sam Houston. Never in a million years would I expect to treated so badly.

Nice place
By Jim Gamble, 1/7/06
The Antonian isn't very far from downtown, SA, and we got a pretty good rate. I wouldn't have stayed for the $99 they offered, but it was a weekday and we had a AAA card that brought the rate down to $70. It seemed to me like the place was trying to be nicer than it really was. The room was very spacious and neat, no frills. I awoke at 5 am to hear Christmas music from my bed over the speakers in the hallway - something I couldn't understand, especially since it was January.

Worst ever
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/31/05
Seemed nice at first,(once I could get the clerk to come out of the back room) but then dirty and poorly maintained after a closer look. I called down to ask for a couple of extra pillows and was told "that isn't possible". No ice bucket, no glasses, didn't even go in the bathroom, wouldn't want to be elitist and ask for towels! Desk clerk was extremely rude at that point and refused to refund my money. I've traveled extensively from 5-star to flea bag hotels, and I've always been able to get an extra pillow, and have water glasses in the room. I know that's asking a lot, for almost $100.00 a night! Run, don't walk, from the Antonian!! They only want to run your credit card, and after that you're on your own!
