Awful Introduction to Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/1/09
I had reserved my room thorough 1-800-Holiday and received the employee rate, as I am one with IHG. The reservationist was very nice through the toll free service and allowed me to hold the rooms on a courtesy hold, stating that they would be released within 24 hours if no arrangements were made to guarantee them. Arrangements were made for one of the rooms, but the other I just let (supposedly) hang to cancel itself. It did not, even though it was explicitly stated that I only needed the one room for the 2 nights when I had called the hotel directly. I tried to cancel the other unnecessary reservation, but was told I could not as it was not far enough in advance. I HAD NOT EVEN GUARANTEED IT TO BEGIN WITH, THE DESK CLERK, JEREMY, WAS TOO INCOMPETENT TO DO WHAT I HAD ASKED HIM AND NOT ATTACH MY CREDIT CARD TO THE OTHER RESERVATION . Then to make matters worse, I was told I could not get the rate I had reserved the room at - I had to pay the rack rate! I again spoke with Jeremy, who spoke over me, interrupted me and asked me if I'd rather be "surprised" at check-in with the rate difference or have him call me prior. I haven't even stayed at this hotel yet, but I never will again and will let all others know of the ill customer service I received with the Holiday Inn Express in Mishawaka, Indiana.
