If small room bothers you, don't stay here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/19/08
Here is the simple fact about this Hotel.. The rooms are tiny but clean. The bathrooms, TV and amenities are new and clean. Staff was great, helpful and friendly. Close to subways, restaurants and Central Park. Walking distance to museums and any Central Park attraction such as the Tavern on The Green, the Met, Natural History and Guggenheim. The breaksfast was OK, everything I would eat at home such as cereals, yogurt, bagels, rolls, coffee tea, etc. Always enough on hand and more if you ask the staff. Just a clean palce to stay for people such as my wife and I who spend zero time in the room for anything but sleep and shower.

Great location!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/22/07
Our room was very small but the bed was okay and bathroom obviously redone...towels were good! We loved the fact that we could get out and walk to several good restaurants right in the area. Try PASHA, the Turkish restaurant across the street, and the Irish pub on Columbus. Another tip is to visit Strawberry Fields in Central park (1/2 block away)which has been dedicated to John Lennon who lived just around the corner. Also, the New York Cities double-decker bus has a stop at 72nd & Central Park West...convenient!

excellent location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/03/07
What I liked the most about this hotel was it's location. Very close to a lot of subways to get around the city, and even closer to Central Park. The neighborhood in which it was located was very peaceful and safe. Affordable restaurants nearby, same with a pharmacy and a bank for a quick ATM machine. The room is quite small, especially the bathroom, but overall, it's a perfect hotel if you're looking to explore the city of NY. The employees were nothing but nice and helpful. Would stay there again.

worst Comfort Inn in the USA
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/07/07
Don't believe anything you read on their website. T, but in my five days Ihis place is supposedly being renovated but during my stay I never saw any workmen. So if you like to see torn wallpaper , dirt in hallways and the smallest rooms you've ever stayed in then this is the place for you. Forget about the breakfast it's the poorest of any of the ,Comforts I've stayed in., and this was what they called an upgraded Executive Room!!!The only thing they've got going is the location. Do yourself a favour find another property I know I wish I had but by the time I got there the other properties had filled up.

Tiny Rooms
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/28/07
Good location. One block from Central Park. Half mi. walk to theater district. But TINY rooms. The exceptions are room 02 and 07 on each floor - only 8 rooms per floor.

5 Star Location, 2 Star Decor
By Scott, 06/06/06
As stated by others, this hotel is a very good value and in an excellent location, if you are prepared for 2-star decor and cleanliness. Apparently they are renovating some rooms but certainly not the one I was in. This is a hotel for someone who does not mind small spaces (the double bed rooms are, ironically, even smaller than the queen bed rooms, so if you're travelling with someone and share a room, make sure you know them well ahead of time!). Staff is minimalist; friendly but not eager. This hotel is all about location location location, and there's a subway stop one block away (72nd Street). Great value if you are not looking for nice decor, ask if the room you've been given is by the elevator, which means you'll hear "ding" everytime it passes by your room, but hey, it's NYC, so you'll other noises too!

Don't Stay Here Not Worth It!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/17/06
Terrible! Rooms dirty, small & smokey. Stayed on 14th floor elevator broke, showed up at 9:30 for breakfast that ended at 10 only to be told sorry no food come back tomorrow & come earlier. Staff was rude and they requested I provide a credit card for incidentals which they charged my credit card for even though I prepaid using priceline. So I paid double to a lousy hotel and had to argue to get my money back. Said my transaction through Priceline was only a deposit and the system was down when I checked out so I received the bill in the mail with the charge on it. Also said priceline only gives 1 double bed which I know isn't true because I have used them before. Made trip miserable! Will be writing hotel chain to complain.

A Great Bargain
By m, 01/31/06
My sister and I (both seniors) had gone to NYC to see the exhibit "Slavery in New York" and stayed at the Comfort Inn because it was in walking distance of the New York History Museum. The room was small and clean, the staff courteous and friendly. It was wonderful walking in the neighborhood in the evening and having so many good restaurants to choose from. The breakfast was spare but sufficient.

ok if the price is right
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/17/05
ROOM: First room was so bad (tv did not work, heating leaked and hissed and we did not sleep at all that night) we had to move the next day. Second room: acceptable, clean but small. BREAKFAST: tiny breakfast room - don't get there late or you will have no table to eat at, or at best have to share with others. Also you eat off paper plates and drink from paper cups! Only options for breakfast are 1 cereal, toast and doughnuts - so do not expect much! SERVICE: not bad when things are ok, but if you have a problem don't expect any friendly support and they will not go out of their way for you. LOCATION: Ideal if you are looking for affordable accomodation close to the touristy part of lower Manhatton, want to spend a bit of time in the park and plan to walk into lower Manhatton a couple of times a day for a few days. But this hotel does not look over the park, its just close enough to most things in lower Manhatton. OVERALL: I'd say fine for anything up to $100-$150 a night max. We had to pay $450 a night for the above - DEFINITELY NOT WORTH IT. They justified it by saying we came during peak shopping season (early Dec) which is rubbish as while we were there we managed to find far better accomodation at 4* Hotels overlooking the park for half that price!! Since we could not get a refund on our booking we did not move and braved it out at this hotel. In summary, nothing great but acceptable if the price is right. Either way, do not expect too much.

We stay here twice a year.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/22/05
It is hardly perfect but for middle-class upstate-New York folks in NYC it is great -- great location, always clean, courteous and efficient staff, comfortable beds, fabulous location -- incredibly reasonable price for the location!!!! The drawback is -- small dark rooms. I am a middle-aged woman and have stayed there alone in perfect comfort.
