Do not stay, unless you have to.
I just recently returned from a trip to Paris with my girlfriend. We had a wonderful trip overall but most significantly we had a poor hotel experience. The location of the hotel is actually quite good. It
is a very short walk from two different metro stations. The neighbourhood is more residential than touristy which we liked. It is heavily immigrant populated however, which some visitors looking for the
Paris they have seen in the movies may not like. It is
safe for the most part, but we did not walk around the neighbourhood past dark which was 10pm.
There were multiple negative experiences that spoiled our hotel stay. First day there, we were quite jet-lagged and decided to take a nap. We were barged in upon in mid sleep two times by the cleaning staff. The door was bolted and they did not knock. This continued to happen for the next 2-3 days until it seems they finally got the message. On
one occasion our used towels were removed and no clean ones added.
On another occasion we brought in a pizza from outside late at night past the time the hotel restarant was closed. I asked for a fork and knife. I was chastized by the hotel receptionist for bringing in food from outside and was told they have no fork and knives. As I was leaving to go back up, the manager had overheard the conversation and called me back to provide me with a single knife and fork and I was instructed at least 3 times to bring them back the next day. Rather annoying.
My girlfriend asked for a little creamer container that we had originally had in our room to use for her coffee. She was told that it is only provided on the first day of stay. Ridiculous! It was the same size as the creamer containers you see in diners or fast food joints. Cost probably 0.05 cents. In general the attitude by the staff made us feel like they were doing us a favor to let us stay. As if we were not paying for it.
Finally the first few days in Paris were incredibly hot 85-90 degrees. I asked about the air conditioning that did not work. I was told it was not working at that moment, assuming that meant they were working on it. Turns out the cheap jerks did not provide any air conditioning throughout our stay. I have had much better stays at places like the Super 8 motel where I've paid 40 bucks a night and have been treated like a guest, not like a burden.
Also, the shower stall is an ergonomic disaster and the bathrooms smelled like sewage/urine after they were "cleaned". A clean mop may have helped.
I do not recommend that you stay at this establishment.
