Rocky Gap Lodge and Golf Resort, Flintstone

Just got back from memorial day weekend spent at Rocky Gap Lodge and Golf Resort and we had a great time. The staff there was so friendly and welcoming. Christine, the Bell Captain, did a great job of welcoming our children and telling them all that there was for THEM to do, not just for the grown ups. Sure, you can golf and i defintley recommend the course (Jack Nicklaus design and a real bear at that) but we had so much fun doing other things. We rented canoes, and mountain bikes. The kids played volleyball by the beach and swam in the lake. The restaurant options were very good. They did a great take on several "traditional" dishes and offer a great wine selection. If you want to venture out, there are also several family friendly restaurants in Cumberland nearby. The front desk does a great job anticipating your needs and they even have a sheet with directions to the common guest requests such as "where is the nearest wal-mart?" already prepared. We can't wait to go back and try the kayaks and fishing. The geocaching sounds really cool but was a little pricier than we wanted to take on for this trip. Do not go hear if you are looking for a posh, uber-elegant resort. But do come here if you are looking for comfortable accommodations in a relaxing environment with friendly, caring and knowledgeable staff. Very approachable. very welcoming and very much appreciated.

The surroundings are gorgeous. The rooms are small compared to what I'd expect for the price. The restuarant is overpriced. The town of Comberland was the closest town to get any food, and that took us 15 mins to get to. I just felt trapped in an overly expensive place.

It is a wonderful place to get away and just relax and read a book or on a romantic weekend. The view is great, the golfcourse is fun. The restaurant is a little expensive but overall good experience.

We had a wonderful time. Great location! It is about 2 hours from Washington DC. The lodge sits on a lake facing a mountain. Plenty of family acitvities that include swimming, biking, tennis, volley ball, horse back riding and of course golf. Also, a spa for pampering yourself. Great food too. The only problem I had was room service for breakfast. But the hotel compensated by giving us a late check out and gift certificate for our next visit. I plan to suggest this location for our next Family Reunion.

very nice state park, but poor golf course. Meals overly priced for average vacationer

Rocky Gap was one of the friendliest hotels we have ever stayed at. The staff was great! The manager Michael was absolutely awesome! It is truly a 5-star hotel.Since it is a pet friendly resort, the whole family enjoyed their stay and participated in lots of activities.
