MSS has earned the #1 spot in our Las Vegas lovin' hearts! The place is ALWAYS clean and the staff is helpful/friendly. The rooms have been wonderful. We first ventured in to try the micro-brew beer, which is outstanding. EXTRA BONUS: you can get the good stuff while gambling on the casino floor -- this is a treat not offered at the Monte Carlo on the strip (also housing a micro-brewery). I HIGHLY recommend joining the Players Gold Club -- the card is linked to the California and Fremont. We're not big gamblers, but have worked our way up to receiving free nights by building points on the card. This is the good stuff, baby!

needs very little to be perfect

MSS has great food, a great staff, very good location, great gaming, and the rooms have recently been refurbished. I stay there about 4-5 times a year, and there is no better value for the dollar. I would like to see them have in room wi-fi, digital cable TV, and a poker room would be nice, but in the "what you get for what you pay" category, I've spent much more and received less from places that have had much better reputations.

Why go to the Strip ?
By ,
From the time they parked our car until it was brought to the front door on our departure, the service was very, very good. Be at the Brew Pub for happy hour. The best deal in Nevada, period...

A great place to stay!
By ,
The Main Street Station was a very nice place to stay in the downtown Las Vegas area. The woodwork in the casino is beautiful. It was in walking distance to the Fremont Street Experience and other casinos in the area. It was very close to the Interstate junctions for those who are driving. The room was very comfortable and clean but I did miss having a refrigerator and there wasn't any room service. The pool was across the street at the California so we didn't make use of it. The breakfast and dinner buffets were fabulous for the price. The Triple 7 micro-brewery restauant was moderately priced and the food was excellent. I would stay here again.

While vacationing in Vegas late 2004, and staying at a neighboring hotel, we found Mainstreet Station. The hotel is beautiful, the buffet outstanding and the play is great! We returned in February,2005, and stayed at Mainstreet. We are planning a trip back next month. Wouldn't stay anywhere else! Forget the stress of the strip, we like the comfort, cleanliness and hospitality at Mainstreet Station.

The hotel is beautiful, but just too far from the strip.

Completely average
By ,
Main Street Station is definitely the most beautiful hotel downtown--even more so than the Golden Nugget because Main Street is not as crowded and has beautiful antiques to complement the gorgeous turn-of-the-century theme. The rooms, however, were your basic motel rooms. There isn't even a hair dryer available--you have to request one from housekeeping every day that you're there. The buffet is average and the service was average. It's a bit of a walk to Fremont Street and there are no breakfast cafes or places to get a quick bite to eat in the hotel. But the hotel is usually cheap, so expectations have to be lowered a little. Still, if you love average, you'll love Main Street Station.

The best seafood buffet for the money
By ,
If you're in Vegas on Friday night, check out the Main Street's seafood buffet. There are all the other stand-by foods, mexican, asian, american, even hawaiian, but most people go for the crab legs, shrimp, and oysters. I have been to most of the buffets in town, and the only one better is at the Bellagio, and it's double the price.
