Will Never stay here again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/20/06
We stayed here in June 2006. We reserved a non-smoking room and all of the rooms around us were non-smoking too. Someone in the room next to us began smoking (you could smell it in the hallway) and as a result our room smelled like cigarette smoke so badly that when we got home everything we took on the trip smelled like cigarette smoke.
We were told that there was nothing the hotel could do about it. The room was a non-smoking room, but they couldn't enforce that. No help to me since I am highly allergic to cigarette smoke.
The front desk clerk didn't even offer to change our room. He handed me a bathroom cleaner and suggested I spray it in the room. The night time front desk staff is the least helpful of any I have seen anywhere. Totally apathetic.
The linens on both beds had cigarette burns in them. The room had no tub - a shower only.
There was a refrigerator and microwave in the room which was nice to have.
The biggest disappointment of all is that Choice Hotels (which Sleep Inn is affiliated with) Customer Relations' department told me there was nothing they could do about what happened with our stay. Apparently they are just a big reservation department and do not care what franchise owners are doing with their name. Not a very good business practice in my opinion.
The owner of the hotel did send me an e-mail in response to my complaint. The owner didn't acknowledge there was even a problem and said the front desk staff took care of what I needed. Nothing could be further from the truth.
To sum it up - traveler beware!
