When visiting the Grand Canyon, be the guest of the Hualapai Nation, as you stay at the Hualapai Lodge. Long ago the Hualapai people made their homes in a side canyon of the Grand Canyon. At one time, they hunted game and engaged in agriculture, following the source of water. Today many people of the tribe reside on an approximately one-million acre reservation, which was established in 1883. This two-storey lodge has interior corridors.

One thing can spoil it all.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/02/09
My wife and I loved our stay at the lodge. The staff were excellent when we got there. The rafting trip was truly spectacular. Our Hopai guide was a gem. We were in such a rush to make our rafting trip at 7am that we left our personal pillows (They reduce headaches) in our room. The bus driver on our bus to the canyon floor was a sweetheart and took a note back up top to the lodge. That we would collect our pillows at the main desk upon returning to get our items out of the safe deposit box. We realize that we are responsible for personal items (We seen the signs also). When we got back the lady at the desk said she would check. She never left the desk and kept helping other patrons. I ask her again and she called someone. She then said that the pillows had not been left in the rooms(So I guess we lied.) . She walked off and would not talked to us any further. Again I understand that the responsibility of the pillows is on us. But anyway you cut it. They were stolen!!! I am sorry to inform you of such a thing. The whole trip was a true adventure for my wife and I. After 22 years of active duty military service we needed this vacation. I am sorry also that someone could reflect such a negetive light on you and your people by stealing. I will except the fault for the pillows being left in our room. You need to except the fact that someone in your organization is a thief.

Great package
By Adam, 09/02/08
My family and I stayed at the Hualapai lodge recently. We took advantage of the package including an overnight stay with tickets to their skywalk attraction the next morning. The lodge stay was nice. Especially for the location where there isn't much in between Kingman and Las Vegas. Spent a comfortable night at the lodge and headed straight to the Skywalk the next morning which definitely added to the whole trip and made the Hualapai experience memorable. If you're in the area or are planning on visiting Grand Canyon West, then the Hualapi Lodge if perfect for you. The hotel is clean, and comfortable, the staff was helpful and the convenience of it's location makes it a great stay.

Don't buy the package
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/14/08
We went on some type of package deal that was offered by the Hualapai Nation for $80/pp. First, they tried to put 4 of us into a room with two double beds (which would have made the room cost $320/night), but after much ado were able to give us two rooms (which made the room cost $160/night) and then had the priviledge of having to drive for over 2 hours in order to get to the West Grand Canyon where we then had to pay an additional $20 for parking. Oh, did I mention the train that goes by the hotel every 20 minutes and blows its horn every time all night long? Sorry, I digress - must be because I am so tired. Anyway, once we finally reached the West Grand Canyon (after having to drive on a fairly primitive dirt road for over 20 miles of dust and bouncing)we found out that in order to go out on the glass walkway, it would have been an additional $30/pp, but our "package" included the fact that we could look at the walkway. What a joke! The 3 sites that they had for viewing were about as hokey as it gets, there is major construction just about everywhere, and helicopters overhead the whole time. Not a pleasant experience, not one that I would ever recommend unless it was someone that I really didn't like... Now that I see that the room can be bought for $50 a night, I could have gotten 4 rooms for almost the same cost ~ however if you choose to go to the West Grand Canyon, expect to pay an additional $30 for the "package", $20 for parking and $30 to go onto the glass walkway. That's an additional $80/per person. Ridiculous and not worth the money, the time, or the wear and tear on your vehicle.

It was worth the money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/03/08
The Hualapai Lodge was worth the money we paid for the room for one night. It was a new lodge, large room with 2 queen beds, bed linen was new and clean, bathroom was large and clean with all needed accessories. This lodge is similar to the accommodation at the South Rim. They gave us 2 complimentary tickets for a buffet type breakfast and did not charge for my daughter who is 11 years old. Every equipment was in good working condition. I do not know why many people had kept bad reviews scaring people off from this lodge. The people at the reception are not friendly but if you do ask questions they are ever willing to go out of their way to help you out or answer any questions. Beds were comfortable and the food at the restaurant were reasonably priced. I recommend people to go stay at this lodge and not keep negative reviews. Are you expecting 5 star service at a 1 star price. The rates at this lodge is very reasonable for the quality/comfortable room after a hectic drive back from the West rim

I'm A Hualapai
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/28/08
I really hate dissing my tribe. The attitude is awful and they are rude. Well some are rude yes. They are doing the best they can. I think building a hotel near a train track is not good. The tribe does not own that lodge. It is ran by some company somewhere in the states. I used to work there and they are really short staffed. But, this is a good place to crash but not to stay long. There is nothing to do non the rez except party and throw rocks at the wild dogs. I really wish one day they we will build a casino.....instead we created a suicidal place. The skywalk looks very unsafe. Just have patience with my people ok?

Never stay here. Period.
By Nicholas, 02/28/08
Where do I begin? They claim to be the closest hotel to the Sky Walk. True, if you want to take a dirt road over 50 miles to it, which most of the time is closed due to unfavorable road conditions. Truth is you can stay in Kingman at a reasonably priced place and travel the slightly longer distance, on ASPHALT. Besides its geographic proximity to the overpriced Grand Canyon West (which is the only reason to even consider this "hotel"), there is a train that runs RIGHT behind it every 20 minutes! 24 hrs. Its very loud no matter what side of the thin paper walled hotel they decided to stick you in. Almost comical, the building actually shakes like something outta My Cousin Vinny. The "restaurant" attached to this place has some of the worst food I ever optioned to stick in my mouth, and my bowels regretted it for the next several days. Every employee seems terribly miserable and totally unenthusiastic (Except maybe the graveyard shift lady who helped us take this wonderful picture below). The beds were uncomfortable and the shower made a screaming, terrible sound as it sputtered out its "hottest" 80 degree water. The interior decorator couldn't have made it past middle school: The lighting consisted of two fluorescent fixtures in the ceiling similar to those in a prison and the wiring was completely exposed throughout the room. Thank god the heater's effortless clanking drowned out some of the sounds of the tri-hourly visit from the Santa Fe Express. Whatever you do, don't pick this place unless your car breaks down in Peach Springs.

Planning to Return
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/14/08
The whole experience was wonderful. The accomodations were so pleasant and comfortable. The restaurant had excellent food but was most noteworthy was how attentive and nice all the people were. The artwork was like being in a museum... we have a piece hanging on our wall. We can't wait to return.

NOT IN RIGHT LOCATION
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/01/07
I THOUGHT THE LODGE WAS CLOSER TO THE SKYWALK. THE SKYWALK IS ABOUT 60 MILES NORTHWEST OF LODGE. (MY MISTAKE) THE ROOM WAS CLEAN. WE ADJUSTED TO THE TRAIN NOISE. THE POOL WAS CLOSED DUE TO THE WEATHER. RESTAURANT WAS OK, THE SERVICE COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER. IF RAFTING, THIS WOULD BE A PERFECT PLACE.

Pre Supai Hike Hotel
By Edward, 05/08/07
Pleasantly surprised. Nice hotel, nice restaurant. Room was on side of hotel away from train tracks so train noise was not noticed. Restaurant needs to open earlier for breakfast.

Too Much Fun
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/16/07
Clean and well kept up. I had no difficulty with any of the staff, front desk or restaurant. Food was excellent. I would rate service in the hotel and the restaurant as very good. Just remember you are on "reservation time," life moves at a different pace. The folks who didn't like this place must have hated Supai! The dirt road drive from Peach Springs to the Colorado River is epic!
