Comfort Inn Austin, Austin

We've stayed at lots of Comfort Inns in various locations, but this one did not met the quality we have experienced in other locations. The location of this hotel, near the interchange of I-35 and I-183 make it very difficult to get to and from from any place in Austin. Also, the neighborhood has an unsafe feel to it. The entire hotel needs to be updated. The unidentified snack food crumbs on the stairs nearest our room were never cleaned; the bathroom light would not turn off, the entire hotel needs to be updated, and the traffic noise was constant. On the upside, the staff was friendly enough, buy yhis as not enouh to recommend this hotel to anyone I consider to be a friend.

We were very pleased with our stay. The rooms were exceptionally clean and the price with the AAA discount was reasonable for the Austin area. Getting on the I-35 southbound lane was easy enough and within minutes of the state capitol, Bob Bullock state historical museum, LBJ library and downtown area. Granted we were there over the weekend and not during the week when traffic could be horrendous. Bed were very comfortable. We were on the second floor so traffic noise was not a problem.

I was a little worried about this hotel, but it turned out to be pretty good. The location was good--it is very convenient to a lot of restaurants and to the freeway. The service was pretty good--the guys at the front desk were not very chatty but were nonetheless friendly. The room was very clean and in good condition--not the Shangri-La--but I was completely at ease using the bathroom and shower sleeping on the linens. I even was comfortable letting my 9 month old baby crawl around on the floor. The only thing that I was not happy about was the noise level in my room from the freeway. This is a four-story hotel with I am sure at least one hundred rooms, and there were about 20 cars in the parking lot at night. So the hotel could not have been full. But the room I was given was the one whose window was the absolute closest to the freeway of all the rooms in the building, and the noise was LOUD. You would think that if the hotel was not full, they would try to give the guests that they do have the rooms with the least NOISE? The free breakfast in the morning was actually quite pleasant, and they have a waffle iron in the shape of the state of Texas! Overall, I would stay there again, but I would be sure to ask for a room on the other side of the building.
