You get what you pay for, I guess!
When we arrived around 9:30 pm, the only area which felt as if the A/C was functioning was the lobby. The hallways and elevator were both extremely warm/airless. This worried me, and when we opened the door to our room, my worries were confirmed. No A/C on in the room. I called the front desk and they admitted they never pre-cool the rooms. I have never, in all the years I've traveled, entered a hotel room which hadn't been precooled enough to be comfortable. My husband and I were quite tired after a full day touring the Rockies and didn't enjoy waiting around for the A/C unit to cool the room. We turned it on full blast but it still took nearly 2 hours for the entire room to be comfortable, partly because there is a half wall between the sitting area (location of the A/C unit) and the bed area, which made it hard for the cool air to flow. We left the A/C on high when we retired for the night and it didn't shut itself off until 6 am. The night manager kept apologizing, but never offered any resolution except to say he would give my phone number to the main manager. She never bothered to call. Yes, it's a cheap place to stay near the airport, but the comfort of their guests is not the #1 priority.
