Hotel Dann Norte, Bogota

I found the service to be good overall. The location is quite safe but follow general security procedures for a large city. Bellhops were attentive at entrance to assist in unloading luggage as well as guide you to front desk all the way to showing you to your room. Front desk clerks were very professional and attentive. Breakfast is buffet-style in the morning consists local fruits,cereal, juice and an omelette station. I did not eat dinner at hotel since there are many great restaurants in Bogota. Hotel rooms are good size with alot of room to walk between beds and couch. Restrooms were found to be stone-tile floors with granite wall and counter. Restrooms very clean and bright. Housekeepers usually call you within 45-60 minutes of checking in to see if you need extra blankets or towels. This hotel is in the northern section of Bogota about 10-15 minutes by taxi to financial district, Zona Rosa, CentroCommercial Andino(Andino Mall), 20 minutes to Bolivar Plaza and areas near Gold Museum. Taxis are abundant but allow yourself and addl 15-20 minutes on rush hour periods. **Taxis is Bogota are on a meter, make sure that the meter is clear prior to moving away from the curb.** This hotel does have "approved" private drivers in their own cars. It is recommended that you only use taxis with permit or "approved" by hotel drivers.

Nice hotel, friendly staff, good wifi, decent breakfast, but my $90 rate reserved on travelocity turned into $125 rate at checkout because they use "special tourist rate" to convert the dollars to pesos, something I've never seen at other hotels in Colombia. No way I could pay in cash pesos or dollars or credit card that brought rate lower. I protested (I speak fluent Spanish)and they smugly refused. So pass these people by, they are less than honest about financial matters.

I have stayed 4 times in this Hotel and will continue coming back. Great location in the middle of every thing, Great service, very nice b-fast served with a smile. A nice simple B-fast. Great drivers available to take you any where, any time for a very resonable price ( not part of the Hotel but always available) Far better than renting a Car. Clean quiet friendly. Will stay there every time

I've stayed at this teriffic hotel twice...the first time in 2004 and then again in June, 2006. This is a wonderful, unpretentious hotel that grows on you. The staff is friendly, helpful and sometimes entertaining. There is always a taxi out front ready to take you where you want (ask for Carlos...he owns his own car and wears a tie...real class). The restaurant is cozy and romantic at night, friendly in the morning for breakfast where your eggs are cooked to order. The staff was ready to accomodate me when I needed an additional soft mattress. Nice little cabaret room off of the lobby...live music and drinks. Hotel is in a great location..right next door to Carulla's, the Whole Foods Market of Bogota-try their buffet lunch upstairs and sit on the porch overlooking the street. Lots of restaurants around on Pepe Sierra Calle and their is always a good "buzz" in the area. Lots of great shops on the Calle and in the "Star" spiral building. Don't miss it. Wonderful walking park behind the building where people walk their dogs and run, etc. Great shopping all around. On Sundays they close the calle 15 for bicyclists. Lots of people, lots of fun. Great central location. Unbelievable value...I paid only $492 U.S. Dollars for 7 nights and that included paying for quite a few meals other than breakfast,which is the only meal included with the room rate. The rooms were adequate but who needs the Ritz? I was gone most of the time anyway.Great staff, great location to and from anywhere and the best bargain in Bogota. I've been back in California for 2 months now and I still think about my wonderful stay at the Hotel Dann Norte. (Hint: Call them for rates....conversation always trumps Internet rates)

First of all, even though this may be the cheapest place you can book online, it is overpriced for bogota. You can hear everything going on on both sides of your room. If you are a gringo like me, they will ignore you at breakfast and steal your drink while you are refilling your plate (happened every morning). I tried to change money when I first arrived there because I had no pesos and the clerk did not give me everything he should have(but I'm not going to sit and fight over a few dollars). Not only that, they treated my friend poorly when she came to visit. They wouldn't call my room for 1/2 an hour and she had to wait in the lobby. Very rude to her. That and I had to get the cleaning staff to help me with the phone as it seems to take 2 desk clerks half an hour to check in one group.
