In 1890, Scottish immigrant John Mouat acquired a fortune in the lumber industry and then appropriated funds to help transform the city of Denver from a mining camp into a modern metropolis. His mansion now serves as the home of the Lumber Barron Inn & Gardens. Each room brims with individual style and luxury, and includes everything from period antiques to jacuzzi tubs. Guests can start the morning with an in-room breakfast basket, or opt for the full-service restaurant. Be sure to call and sign up for its Murder Mystery Weekends.
