Fantastic hotel for four conference goers!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/30/11
We're just wrapping up a stay here for the 2011 Animal Behavior Society conference, and I couldn't have been more pleased with this hotel. It's clean, the sheets and towels are of good quality, the bathroom facilities are spacious and new enough, with good water pressure and plenty of hot water. The walls are surprisingly thick, or we had super-quiet neighbors - not sure which, but it was quiet regardless. There's a lovely flat screen TV that we didn't turn on, and a well laid-out desk that we used non-stop. Beds are comfy, including the fold-out and cot. The A/C unit is effective, easy to just incrementally and quiet. The coffee provided in the rooms is tasty, the free stuff in the vacuum pitchers downstairs not so much, but then I'm a coffee snob and almost never impressed by stored coffee. We never tried out the food, as there's a wealth of options between the actual conference location and the hotel, but the dining space looks clean and pleasant. There seems to be ice water with citrus slices set out every day, and a plate of fresh cookies at the front desk. Not that conference goers ever need increased access to cookies, but they're there. The staff are amazing! Front desk staff are super friendly, and the cleaning people have been refreshing our towels in the right quantity (four) every day, without being asked or signaled to. It's pretty nice to not be treated as second class citizens for staying four to a room, and it's not something I expect. There were two free computers with internet access and shiny new (also free) printers for guest use, and I used them both, and they were perfect. Parking was free, ample and non-sketchy, with spaces that weren't Costco-sized, but also weren't too crowded. I can't speak to the pool or hot tub, except to say that they look nice enough - not scuzzy or mildewy - so if we'd had time I might have used them. Exercise room is cramped, like in any other hotel, but well equipped. So yeah, stay here! Great hotel.

Not worth the money
By Hoosier Alum, 9/6/10
The hotel was very clean, the beds were comfortable, and the rooms were spacious. I stayed for 3 days. The front desk was unoccupied a number of times when I needed help, and once they told me another guest had not checked in, which worried everyone, but she was actually in her room the entire time. There is an additional charge for breakfast and wireless internet is only available in the lobby. I can pay half the price and get free hot breakfast and wireless internet in my room at many other Bloomington hotels. The walls are frighteningly thin. I heard everything that went on in the bathroom next door - vomiting, gas, etc. It was really gross. I would absolutely not ever recommend this hotel to anyone. It is just not worth the money they charge.

Our stay at the Bloomington Marriot was everything we could have asked for.
By GiniS, 5/31/07
We loved the service, the rooms, the suites. Wish there was a restaurant, although they gave us plenty of information about where we could eat. We plan to return there this weekend.

Just ok
By SaraE, 2/14/07
The rooms are older, but seemed to be clean. Shower did not drain. Free internet access. Offer a great breakfast with a lot of variety, but it is not included.

Nice and Convenient place to stay.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/8/07
I enjoy this hotel when I go to visit my daughter at IU. It is clean, the beds are comfy and the value is usually good. I've stayed there three times and have never had a bad stay. I say usually because on big weekends they sometimes jack up the prices but so do most of the hotels in Bloomington. Best of all, I really like the location. It is very close to the university and town.

Great stay!
By AC, 1/21/06
I read all the different reviews for hotels in Bloomington before booking, and I ended up at the Courtyard because it was a bit cheaper than the Fairfield Inn and located downtown. Parking is easy. I saw someone complain about it in another review, but there is a parking lot to the left, in front, and behind the hotel. I had no problems whipping right into a spot. The lobby is nice, and at night they have fresh popped popcorn and cookies. They also have a snack bar with vending machine priced snacks. My room was wonderful. They have free internet in the room, a good hot/high pressure shower, and lots of space. I am normally a terrible sleeper in beds other than my own, but I fell asleep at 10:30 and did not wake up until my alarm went off the next morning. I am not a nap taker either, but I couldn't wait to get back to the hotel after lunch and take a nap in the bed. The room is clean, they have pay movies you can order through the TV (including movies still in theaters), and the staff is friendly. The other people staying in the hotel tend to be either professionals or parents of IU students, so there aren't any obnoxious or strange people lurking around. I've never been disappointed by a Marriott, so I'm on a roll!! I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Bloomington. It's in a great location with food, shopping, entertainment, and IU within walking distance.

Great Stay for Convention
By Deborah, 11/22/05
This hotel is newly remodeled and attached to the Convention Center. Room had a very comfortable king size bed, desk, sleeper sofa, and great bathroom (and the windows opened too!). Lots of towels - never had to ask for extras. Free internet access in the room was a bonus. I enjoyed the swimming pool and hot tub that overlooked an outdoor patio -- sunny and 30 degrees outside, but inside it was bright and the windows were nice. No complaints about this hotel at all!!

Great Location
By ReginaH, 9/26/05
I've stayed here in the past. In general the rooms are clean and spacious. The downtown location is the primary reason for this choice. It's within walking distance of downtown restaurants and nightlife. It's also a fairly easy walk to campus. Summer months bring lots of families here for various sports camps and tournaments. It can be a bit loud during those times, but that is not the fault of the hotel.

Not as good as I thought it would be
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/21/05
Renovation in the hotel left strong orders. Parking was difficult. Normal items you come to expect in your room not there - such as shower cap etc. I normally stay at the Fairfield Inn - heard the Courtyard was better - I'm back at the Fairfield this week.
