SUITE RETREAT - Tranquil, Comfy, Old World Charm
By ,
Houses of Dreams ~~Mark at the desk, made checking in a breeze, as he was friendly, helpful and enthusiastic. A large dispenser of mint water awaited me, right next to the pamphlets of what to do and see. My guy and I stayed in our deliciously cozy quarters, "Faralito," located around the simply engaging courtyard. While the hotel is almost a hundred years old, it's thick adobe walls engulfed us and held us close. Built in a time when double size beds were the norm for large, our rustic queen size was a bit of a squeeze. In the end, it was just fine. The only thing I might change if given the chance, would be to update the lighting with dimmer switches. The living room is warm and inviting with a big flat screen TV tucked away behind a Spanish style console, that when closed is a nice architectural piece. Leather easy chairs and a southwestern covered couch was comfortable. For better romantic lighting, I draped a scarf over one of the two wrought iron lamps with the cool leather-like shades. When morning came, we rolled out of bed refreshed and headed over to the dining room for our coffee which besides mugs, they also provide foam cups to take back to the room. There was a delicious platter of cubed watermelon, honeydew and cantaloupe, next to a closed bin of whole wheat muffins, traditional bagels, and white bread for toasting. Three bowls of jams awaited, right next to the individual packages of cream cheese. On the buffet on the right side of the kitchen entrance, was a selection of oatmeal, granola and raisin bran. Oh, and yogurt! If this isn't enough to satisfy, your waitperson cheerfully takes your order. I like easy over eggs and just ordered those without even looking at a menu, but I saw large plates of thick French toast drizzled with syrup and crunchy bacon pass by me. For a moment I wish I had ordered it, and when the customer bit into and sighed, I was sorry I hadn't. Besides regular coffee, decaf and hot water for teas, there is a selection of juices and milk. Seriously, it was divine. Who doesn't like to sit in front of a burning fire that scents the courtyard with pine wafting out to greet you. Oh, my. Several copies of the morning paper await your perusal if you are so interested to read on the incredible glass sun porch, next to remarkable artwork. I even took pictures of the paintings - and I'm an artist! To return to our room, a little path winds around the property of lush old-growth plants in bloom (October for the balloon fiesta),, trailing over adobe walls and framing incredible turquoise doors and gates. It was so very beautiful that I asked my guy for the camera so I could take pictures. If you want to see them, ask me. I even put them on my Facebook page to share with everyone who has now "oohed" and "ahhed." We could have brought our breakfast back to our friendly little kitchen and eaten there, but the other guests, the owner who was - smiling while busing a table, in between greeting his guests, and the ambiance alone were enough reasons to swallow the last morsels in the dining room. We had one tiny little issue (the locks were "sticky") and Juan (the maintenance man) was there right away with some WD-40, which fixed it muy pronto. I encourage anyone coming to Old Town to check out this warm and lovely hotel - but I kind of wish I wasn't writing this review, so that on the off-chance I fly that way again soon, my lovely cottage would again be available. As I said it was Balloon Fiesta time, and they were sold out at $157 (including taxes) a night. It was well worth it to enjoy this personal, romantic, cozy cottage which will surely fulfill your dreams of the perfect place to stay away from the maddening crowd, and in the arms of absolutely lovely innkeepers Mark, Marc and Dana. When was the last time you could remember the names of people you may not see again for another 12 years? Exactly. THEY are that memorable. Suite Dreams, Mary B.

Great Find near Old Town
By ,
We loved the gardens and our Casita. We parked our car for two days and walked to Old Town, Museums and the Botanic Gardens. There is even a train from the Aquarium that went round trip to the Zoo and back along the Rio Grande river. The staff was very friendly and helpful with our plans. Breakfast was fantastic and was included each day with the room although it was somewhat busy around mid morning. We will be back next year.

Best Weekend getaway in Albuquerque
By ,
I loved how close to Old Town it is, the grounds were amazing to see in the center of the city, staff was friendly and rooms were very clean. I would reccommend this to everyone looking for a quaint place to stay in the middle of a busy city. Certainly worth the money for those trying to save a few bucks. I can't wait to go back!

Exceeded Expectations !!
By ,
We have just returned home from our vacation in New Mexico and our stay at the Casas de Suenos. If you are looking for the Holiday Inn, the Hilton or the Marriot this is not it. But if you are looking for old world charm, old world hospitality, a garden of delight in every way imaginable, then this is the place. It is a uniquely, personal, relaxing, and comfy place. It is an art filled beautiful environment. Marc Cumbow (the owner/manager) has decorated both the Casas and the gardens with his own eclectic, imaginative, collection of original pieces of art. Marc and his staff took great pains to ensure that our stay there was memorable. We have stayed in guest inns in Germany, Crotia, and throughout Canada and the United States. Never have we been in such awe and wonder. Our experience at the Casas will remain with us for a long time. Joan and Ron

Best Bed and Breakfast in New Mexico
By ,
Casas de Suenos is not your regular bed and breakfast.. From the time you enter you are greeted by great staff and are given a tour and history of the place. They also help you find any thing that you might be looking for. The breakfast is great. This is a place where i will return too.

Casas De Suenos
By ,
We have spent many visits to ABQ guests at the Casas De Suenos Inn. From the moment you step foot on the property, your sense are overwhemed with the fragrence and beauty of the gardens. The owner has done an exceptional job of decorating the property, both inside and out. Each room is decorated with an individual theme, each is spacious, inviting, and comfortable. The "common area" is just gorgeous--surrounded by glass and "looking out on" the gardens. An added benefit is the delicious, hot, full breakfast meal that is individually made to order each AM. Trust me, once you sit down to eat in that area, you will be ready to spend your whole day relaxing in that spot. Another benefit is the close proximity to Old Town ABQ, where you can experience shopping and dining, all within a walking distance. The staff has always been helpful and friendly. The grounds, gardens and total property are clean and well kept---and trust me, that is one thing about our stay anywhere that is a MUST!!!! The last time we were there a wedding was taking place in the gardens--the setting was magnificant, the staff courteous, the wedding planner knowledge and organized. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

Different and Charming
By ,
Upon arriving I knew we were in New Mexico. The hotel has a great southwestern style lobby and breakfast area where we had a wonderful breakfast each day that was much more than we had expected including green Chile burritos and omelets that are made to order. Our room opened to a lush garden patio . We had a queen bed, living room and full kitchen which helped as we stayed for a week while we were looking for a house to buy. The staff was great and we found the location excellent as we checked out the different areas of the city. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for something different than the Holiday Inn or high rises you typically see in downtowns.

Old, dated, dirty, dishonest website
By ,
This place is in dire need of serious maintenance AND some honesty. According to their website the room we reserved was "BRAND NEW". That is a bold faced lie, the room was dirty, smelly, old and in need of an update.... The "in room" jacuzzi was an outdoor model some how dragged inside, should be on some redneck TV show. We didn't even unpack our bags, I've only done that twice in my life.

A destination spot unto itself!
By ,
We were so enchanted by this place, that we would return just to stay at this charming B&B casita. We stayed in the El Rincon, which was decorated as if the owner were living their themselves. Between the exquisite aesthetics, thoughtful set-up, and enchanting grounds, our stay at Casas de Suenos fulfilled all of our needs, and then some. The short walk to the downtown area ensured that we had access to amazing restaurants and ambiance. Thank you so much for creating such a beautiful place.
