Hotel Shangri-La, Accra

I stayed at this hotel for eight nights. It was very good and close to Accra shopping mall with easy access to Accra. It is only a few minutes from the Accra Airport and has its own shuttle bus! I had a double room which was spacious and air conditioned. It had a television with cable access. The room service was good. I enjoyed the delicious food while relaxing and listening to the live band playing in the evening. The buffet breakfast fruit was excellent. John MacDonald, Canada.

Check out Shangri-La Hotel opposite Aviation Road at Airport Residential Area. I went there with a group of friends on a Saturday afternoon. We ate and drank at the poolside and had a swim. I hear the pool bar will be opening again soon too! In the evening we watched a football match and listened to the live band. A few months ago they even had the famous musician King Ayisoba!!!! close to the airport,a few steps from the big mall,not far from the beach,car rental at the hotel and the staff is always friendly.i love the shangri la pool.big,clean and the palm trees around,flowers,small waterfall etc.keep me always dreaming....

The location is great, close to the airport and accra central mall, and golf club with easy access to all of accra. But when we checked in we were specifically told by the porter as a favour we will be put in a renewly renovated room. a day before our checkout date Between the hours of 1am and 6pm, our 2 laptops, 2 blackberry phones, a samsung phone $1,500 dollars in cash, wallet with bank, store and library cards, were stolen. in the course of police and hotel security investigation it was found that the windows where the robbers came through was faulty, despite locking it, it still opens. The hotel management's attitude was appalling, they bluntly refused to take any responsibity, with all our cash gone they did not so much as offer us a glass of water despite putting us at risk I strongly advice travellers not to lodge in Shangri La hotel in Accra and if they must, then they must insist on staying in a chalet with burglary proofs.

Just yesterday, there were three car break-ins at the same time under the lights in the presence of Security at the Shangri-La Accra. Documents,computers and money were stolen. This is bad!!!

A beautiful African Parasie covered by tall palms, coconut trees, and exotic flowers. A very attractive swimming pool with a coctail bar, pleasant and helpfull staff, a well equiped business center. I enjoyed an assortment of delicious dishes and mouth watering sea food.... mmm ... I'd definately re visit the new Hotel Shangri-la Accra.

Service polite and quick..bit slow poolside.....management very helpful esp ...the don himself Marcell..who goes the extra mile and thinks outside the box to ensure yr comfort..very serene atmosphere and classy in its on right ...this style has been maintaned over the years and is not a mushroom that just popped up hence the experience...

i came back to ghana after some years to find that sh`grila has changed -i miss the water fountain that use to flow from the pots around the outdoor sitting area -with all the lights around it -very romantic.Wish you guys will rebuild it-Lots of my friends came to shangrilar `cos of the outdoor decor-the cultural feel.

the Shangri-la is an attractive hotel that is reminiscent of an earlier era. Does lack upkeep; a bit frayed around the edges - deck chairs, lobby and bar furniture seem not to have been painted or recovered in many years. Staff are polite, only a few are friendly. Does need a concierge; staff don't seem to know about events, sights etc in Accra. Food is only ok. There's a complimentary breakfast but it is bland and unchanging. How about a dessert menu? The tennis cour is badly in need of repair. The pool is beautiful but water is extremely foggy. The store doesn't carry swimming needs - bathing caps etc.Overall, the hotel is comfortable and you do feel safe. Be very careful monitoring your charges at check out!

I was quoted a rate of $70. per night. When I went to check out the rate was $127. No amount of arguing could change the rate. My secretary at work booked the room and twice asked for comfirmation of the rates and reservation. No response. The hotel is a reasonable value at $70. It is completely not worth $127. per night. The pool was over-crowded all weekend with outside paying pool customers. The staff are very friendly (excluding the reception staff). It really is a good $70 a night hotel.
