Built in 1997, this Disney resort has proven a popular convention hotel. It is among the least expensive of Disney's resort properties. The hotel is really a series of three villages and offers rooms and bungalows decorated with Spanish-Mexican-American Southwestern flair with desert colors, terra-cotta tiles and decorative plants. The resort's centerpiece is a huge pool boasting a 46-foot Mayan "pyramid" with water gushing down its steps, which lead visitors to a mini water park. Several fine Spanish/Mexican restaurants are on site.

Great resort... but rent a car!
By Jean, 11/06/09
Everything about this resort was lovely with the exception of the distance between your room and the main building. We had a rental car and I am sure I would not have enjoyed it without having our own vehicle. The kids (ages 11 and 8) really enjoyed the main pool and the food court. My husband and I enjoyed the bar and counter service next to the pool, also the shop in the main building had a lot of things we didn't see at other shops in other resorts. I just can't say enough good about the food court and the variety of food available, although the soda from the fountain has a strange (bad) taste to it which made the purchase of the refillable mugs a bad one, although if you drink coffee it would be worth it. We stayed there in Jan 09, August 09, and have our next trip booked for Feb 10 where we will stay our entire 2 week trip here rather than move between resorts. Highly recommend!

Possibly the worst stay anywhere...ever.
By C. D, 11/03/09
The grounds are nice and well-kept, the staff is very helpful. BUT that's just about all the good I can say about this resort. I expected so much more for all the money we spent (and we spent a lot). After check-in we got to our room to find that it was 80-degrees (it was 92 and sweltering outside). We lugged our luggage up to floor 3 (after I requested a floor 1 room for my son in a wheelchair) and turned down the air. We then left for 6 hours to Downtn Disney. We returned and found the room still at 78 degrees. We called maintenance and was told that it would take a "full 48 hours to sufficiently cool the room"! FORTY-EIGHT HOURS???!!! This is Florida! So, my husband went to grab a soda from the fridge and found it hot, too. Yes, the fridge wasn't working. So, we had to get a new one sent up -- which was half the size of the one that wasn't working. The ice machine on our floor was out of order for the entire stay, as was the soda machine. After walking around the parks for 14 hours a day the last thing I felt like doing was walking 5 miles to my room, but that's what we signed up for. I knew the resort was big. "Big" is an understatement! My kids were disappointed that there were no cute towel-characters (when I asked the front desk about that I was told that they had no one who knew how to do them). Housekeeping left something to be desired, too. We asked for clean towels (by leaving them on the floor per their request) and found our old ones re-hung in the bathroom. When we went to use our laptop both ends of the ethernet cable were broken and we couldn't get one until the next day (but we were still charged the $9.95 for the use internet usage that we couldn't use. They wouldn't waive that). The desk lamp was broken and we coulnd't get another one of those either until the following day! The highlights were Pepper Market -- GREAT FOOD. Go there. They gave us a complimentary wheelchair for my son so we didn't have to worry about renting one. And their business office associates are very helpful (I had a FED EX package on it's way and they went out of their way to let me know it arrived). Yep, that's about it. Please, please don't waste your money or time staying here, trust me.

It was good
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/20/09
Liked beautiful grounds and setting. Pool very crowded. The room was dated and worn. I hope they have remodeled them because the decor looked very "tired." We had requested an adjoining room next to our grandchildren, son and his wife. What we got was a room that had a door to their room and our room had a hard little bed that folded out. Staff and room services was good, especially when some horrible black goo came up out of the tub in my son's room! They did come and clean it out, whatever it was. Dining was not terrible and not fantastic, but stick to the fast-food eatery and skip their pricier restaurant - it's not very impressive. Don't use the laundry unless an emergency! It's VERY expensive and doesn't do a very good job. Overall, the Coronado is average, we still had fun, but either would like to save $ next time and just do the Value Resorts or pay more and upgrade.

Love Coronado Springs and staff!
By Bob, 01/22/09
My husband could not get away, so I went on vacation alone. I had a wonderful time at Coronado Springs in January 2009. Because I come from a cold climate, I had a great time at the Diggs pool and on the water slide. The temperature in the afternoon was 68 to 70 degrees. That felt wonderful to me since it was -24 degrees where I come from. The flowers were wonderful. I am a master gardener. Just walking around the grounds and seeing the roses, rododendrons, roses of sharon and palm trees was enough reason to go to Coronado Springs. I had a piece of greecy piza that wasn't very good, but otherwise, the food at the Mayan grill was excellent. Try the sweet potato soup. Loved it. Be careful not to drink too much. They make the Long Island Ice Tea drinks at the Diggs pool and outside the convention center strong! I can't wait to get back. We are returning in March and have two water park tickets in addition to the park tickets for a week. Disney employees were so good to me as a visitor by myself. This almost sounds like an advertisement for Disney. I live in northern Illinois and have no financial interest in Disney. Forgot to suggest the noodle restaurant terrace as the best place to watch the Magic Kingdom parade and fireworks display. Get there early. There is a really great Disney gentleman who will show you the best place to view the fireworks. Tinkerbell flies from the peak of the tower right at you from that vantage point. Love Disney!

Any other resort but this!
By Zod, 09/11/08
The grounds are nice and the cast members are helpful, but that's about it. I highly recommend the Port Orleans resorts if you want to stay at a moderate resort. They are in a better location and much nicer than Coronado Springs. My room was about a very long walk to the main building and the bus stop was also a fairly long walk to get to as well. The last thing I want to do when coming home from the parks is walk! The room had some huge bugs in it when I checked in but that's Florida for you. Plus it was also very small and really no bigger than the rooms at the value resorts. So for the extra money, it was quite disappointing. My main complaint was getting food poisoning at the Pepper Market which put me in the hospital and ended my stay. Now the Pepper Market is pretty bad for several reasons including that you have to leave a 10% gratuity no matter what (they automatically add it to your bill). It's supposed to be a food court but it's neither owned nor operated by Disney so that's why they rip you off. Also most of them don't even speak english either so brush up on your espanol before you go.

CHOOSE ANOTHER RESORT
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/08/08
IT WAS OK FOOD WAS OVERPRICED AND THERE IS A LONG HAUL FROM YOUR ROOM TO THE LOBBY WHERE THE SHOPS AND FOOD ARE! ALSO HAD TO WALK IN POURING RAIN BECAUSE FRONT DESK SAID THERE WAS NO SERVICE TO BRING YOU TO THE LOBBY WHICH WAS A LIE BECAUSE THERE WERE BELLBOYS ON GOLF CARTS WHO COULD ASSIST YOU AFTER WE WERE SOAKING WET!

room not clean - not worth the money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/09/08
We stayed here for 2 nights . The atmosphere is fine but feels more like a convention centre than a resort. It just did not have the Disney feel to it. Be prepared for lots of middle age men and women just kinda hanging around the pools - not really the family feel of most Disney resorts. As for the rooms, the size is just like a value resort, only ours was not clean. There was toothpaste(or something??) smeared all over the dividing curtain(bathroom to bedroom area) and the tub was very dirty. There was mold in the corners of the tub/shower. Lastly the shower curtain was so wrinkled it looked like it had been bunched up for a long time and then hung. The corners of the room had dust build up too! I guess our big concern with this resort is for $200 a night I expect more. Staying here I felt like I was at a $69 Days Inn or Howard Johnsons - nothing fancy. We paid for an upgraded WATER view - My advice is save your money - we could barely see the edge of the lagoon - but we could see the tip so it counted ! The only good thing was by choosing a water view you do get a closer room to the main pool( a 10 minute walk to main pool) which was better than the standard view. The staff was okay but when we called to ask for 2 extra pillows they said they did not think they had any more but they would check, if we really needed them. We also got someone else's check out bill on our door on our first morning. They did answer any of our questions, but there just was not that Disney feeling. The pool was cold when we were there but enough people complained that they did turn it up a bit. The restaurant on site is obviously for the business traveller on an expense account. We paid $6 for a muffin - one muffin - not heated and not even that good! Save your money - either stay offsite - because this resort does not feel like part of Disney . We have stayed at many Disney resorts, Old key West, Beach Club, Boardwalk, Movies, Music, Polynesian, Contemporary and this resort would definetly get my lowest rating. This is not typical of our experiences with Disney resorts and we were very surprised and sadly disappointed.

Fair as long as you keep out of your room
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/27/08
Some nice things about the resort (call it a Hotel), but some issues. The room I was in was almost a quarter mile from the lobby. Signs were not horribly clear and if there were buses they were not apparent. In terms of the room I was in, well the room smelled, the bed creaked. It looked like the rug and paint had not had attention for a long time. Not dirty, but just old feeling. Think Motel 6 or Howard Johnson. We were there for a business conference and one of the things I looked for on the web page was whether they had internet service. I specifically looked at the web page to check prices for internet. Not obvious and what they listed for the web page was. "Guest Services * Wi-Fi Internet access in lobby and convention center common areas Sounds like it was free, it’s not, I looked for a price, it was not at least on the page I quoted above. They did list: Nominal charge for Internet for the guest rooms ----------------------- Ah but what is NOMINAL. The web page fails to mention that Internet is $10.00 per day. To make it even more fun, if you buy wireless access in the convention center it doesn't work in the rooms. AND your wireless access does not transfer over to the wired internet. In plain english you'd have to spend more money and buy Internet twice, once for wireless once for wired. If they'd charged $2.00 a day I'd have bit. $10.00 per day is unacceptable for what's being billed as business friendly. -------------------------------------------- This place is a throwback. Food was good, but the rest of it was just very very old and tired. Good pools, but the convention area and rooms made me want to get out my bell bottoms. But on the bright side, I was pretty aerobically fit by the time I walked a quarter mile to my room and back 5 times per day. Summary: Hilton Prices Howard Johnson feel, with a great outdoors. So if you go stay out of your room and enjoy the grounds, they were good. The rooms were disappointing. For a business traveler, watch it. The internet charges are just plain unreasonable for a business traveler in the states

Excellent Disney Resort
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/19/08
I just stayed here over President's Day weekend. Check-in (and out) were seamless. The resort itself is very nice -- kind of like the Disney Carribean Beach resort only w/ a Spanish theme. Recognize that this resort is large and very spread out. I saw several reviews complaining about this when I was booking. It's not a problem - just something that people need to be aware of in advance. Like all Disney resorts, the rooms are definitely on the pricey side (especially given that this is a "moderate" resort) but I think it is worth staying at a Disney resort from a convenience perspective (e.g., have all transporation taken care of for you, be able to bill everything to your room, etc.). I'd be willing to stay here again - though I try to check out different Disney resorts so I'm not repeating.

Wonderful hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/15/07
We just returned Oct. 2007. We arrived at the hotel at 10:00am. We had a standard room that was not ready. I ask for a room with a view and one that was available now and they granted my request. The rooms are nothing special but they were clean and we had a great view of the lake. We used Disney Magic Express with no problems. We went to the park and when we returned the bags were in our room. We ate at the food court several times. The food was OK at the staff was friendly. The have a gift shop on site and in the back they have lots of food to buy, like milk, juice, boxed doughnuts be sure and stop there. The Disney theme parks were crowded even this time of year but the lines move pretty fast. I think our longest wait was about 20 to 30 minutes. I would recommend this hotel to all families and couples.
