Description

Built in 1997, this Disney resort has proven a popular convention hotel. It is among the least expensive of Disney's resort properties. The hotel is really a series of three villages and offers rooms and bungalows decorated with Spanish-Mexican-American Southwestern flair with desert colors, terra-cotta tiles and decorative plants. The resort's centerpiece is a huge pool boasting a 46-foot Mayan "pyramid" with water gushing down its steps, which lead visitors to a mini water park. Several fine Spanish/Mexican restaurants are on site.

Spotty Servuce But Good Overall
By ,
We have actualy stayed at this resort twice, most recently last weekend for our anniversary. Because I did the online check-in, all I had to do upon arrival was pick up my room keys and folder. Took all of three minutes tops. Both times we've stayed here, we were placed over in building 7A, probably the furthest from El Centro and the restaurants. The room was clean and large enough for us. The cute little towel critters were a nice touch. I also like the sliding doors that can close off the bathroom area. I was able to get cleaned up and dressed early in the morning without waking my husband. The pools were awesome. The main pool featured afternoon activities (bingo games with prizes) and evening movies for the young ones, along with a cool slide. There are also two smaller "quiet" pools on the property for those who want a break from the noise of the larger pool. The only reason I am giving this hotel four stars instead of five has to do with restaurant service. We found that at both the Pepper Market and the Maya Grill, service always seems to start off badly. We would be seated and then ignored for about ten minutes until we piped up. And then, when we FINALLY got service, it was great. Strange....... We also didn't appreciate being awakened at 8:30AM by the housekeeper on the morning of our departure asking if we were leaving yet. Otherwise, there were no other problems. This being a Latin American themed resort., most of the restaurant fare is Mexican and luckily we love that cuisine so it posed no problems. I particularly enjoyed the Latin American folk songs that are piped into the El Centro building. But overall, a pretty decent resort, especially if you are there for a conference. Those wtih higher expectations would probably do better elsewhere.

Don't go here!

This was our 3rd time to Disney and the worst hotel. If you're going to spend the $ do it right. Just the walk to the pool or transportation tired the kids out. Old furnishings, towels, etc. Just aweful.

Great Hotel and Pool
By ,
We just completed a week stay at the Disney Coronado Springs Hotel. We have 2 children age 3 and 5 and this was are first Disney Experience. We wanted a moderate hotel that was a step back from the Disney Crazyness (less kids). We checked in on a Monday, and the hotel was almost completely full with a conference. The only way we knew this info was because I asked. We never had to wait for anyting and the hotel was never crowded even though the hotel was booked solid. The restaurants were great we ate at the market (quick serve) three times and the food was good and the amount of food was exceptional. The service was great, and all the employees were very helpful. The rooms were recently remodeled and we enjoyed them very much. The pool is probably the best at Disney, and it was never crowded until the weekend. This hotel caters to Business Meeting so when you go to the pool its not crowded. The bus service was also good and also never crowded, we never had to stand on the bus or at the bus stop. Most people staying at the hotel are again "WORKING" so their not catching a bus to the theme parks. Which is an added bonus. Also the rooms were quiet we never heard another person in our rooom all week, and the beds were very comfortable. The only two complaints we had was the size of the resort. You had to do a lot of walking due to the sheer size of the peoperty. My kids did most of the complaining but it was a liitle bit of an issue because your already tired from walking at the theme parks. We also had to call housekeeping when we first checked into the room because the toilet was not completely clean. They came immediately out to clean it again and were very sorry. If your looking for a hotel on Disney that lets you step back from all the kids all the time, this is the hotel. We would stay again. Great Hotel for getting away from the hustle and bustle of Disney

First time at WDW resort
By ,
I recommend this hotel to families! We had the GREATEST time during our stay here and this is why....I hope my review and suggestions help make your trip here as wonderful as ours was... -Anyone who is able to walk w/out any health issues will find this resort is NOT too large. Our room was smack dab in the middle of the resort and it only took us ten minutes to walk the entire premisis of the resort. The resort is so beautiful that our walks were actually enjoyable! Do NOT think you need to rent a car to get around; however, if you have health issues that do not allow you to walk then I could see where it would be a little less desirable. -The food is GREAT and recommend eating at the PepperMarket. We were a family w/ a 5 and 10 year old and used the quick dining plan. This was WELL worth the xtra money spent!! There was SO much food we actually left w/out using all our snacks and meals! It was delicious and the wait staff was very nice. If you sit in the market you should tip the wait staff. -We used the buses to get to and from theme parks. They were crowded but we expected that. The wait times were not bad at all. Our longest wait was for the Animal Kingdom bus and that was only for 15 or 20 minutes tops. It wasn't very long of a wait in my opinion; it is Walt Disney World AND since it was our vacation we didn't need to be in a hurry. -The rooms are nice; they certainly are not fancy but they were very clean and nicely decorated. For the price they were more than I expected! -The ONLY disappointment I had w/ the hotel (but from what I read this is ALL the hotels at Disney resorts) that we had to pay $10/night for internet usuage. I found that a little strange considering how most places offer wifi for free in this day in age. BUT again; it was vacation so I only hooked up twice to my computer and left the rest of the days to keep away from emails and enjoy myself. We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel and I think most others will be too!

Great resort... but rent a car!
By ,
Everything about this resort was lovely with the exception of the distance between your room and the main building. We had a rental car and I am sure I would not have enjoyed it without having our own vehicle. The kids (ages 11 and 8) really enjoyed the main pool and the food court. My husband and I enjoyed the bar and counter service next to the pool, also the shop in the main building had a lot of things we didn't see at other shops in other resorts. I just can't say enough good about the food court and the variety of food available, although the soda from the fountain has a strange (bad) taste to it which made the purchase of the refillable mugs a bad one, although if you drink coffee it would be worth it. We stayed there in Jan 09, August 09, and have our next trip booked for Feb 10 where we will stay our entire 2 week trip here rather than move between resorts. Highly recommend!

Possibly the worst stay anywhere...ever.
By ,
The grounds are nice and well-kept, the staff is very helpful. BUT that's just about all the good I can say about this resort. I expected so much more for all the money we spent (and we spent a lot). After check-in we got to our room to find that it was 80-degrees (it was 92 and sweltering outside). We lugged our luggage up to floor 3 (after I requested a floor 1 room for my son in a wheelchair) and turned down the air. We then left for 6 hours to Downtn Disney. We returned and found the room still at 78 degrees. We called maintenance and was told that it would take a "full 48 hours to sufficiently cool the room"! FORTY-EIGHT HOURS???!!! This is Florida! So, my husband went to grab a soda from the fridge and found it hot, too. Yes, the fridge wasn't working. So, we had to get a new one sent up -- which was half the size of the one that wasn't working. The ice machine on our floor was out of order for the entire stay, as was the soda machine. After walking around the parks for 14 hours a day the last thing I felt like doing was walking 5 miles to my room, but that's what we signed up for. I knew the resort was big. "Big" is an understatement! My kids were disappointed that there were no cute towel-characters (when I asked the front desk about that I was told that they had no one who knew how to do them). Housekeeping left something to be desired, too. We asked for clean towels (by leaving them on the floor per their request) and found our old ones re-hung in the bathroom. When we went to use our laptop both ends of the ethernet cable were broken and we couldn't get one until the next day (but we were still charged the $9.95 for the use internet usage that we couldn't use. They wouldn't waive that). The desk lamp was broken and we coulnd't get another one of those either until the following day! The highlights were Pepper Market -- GREAT FOOD. Go there. They gave us a complimentary wheelchair for my son so we didn't have to worry about renting one. And their business office associates are very helpful (I had a FED EX package on it's way and they went out of their way to let me know it arrived). Yep, that's about it. Please, please don't waste your money or time staying here, trust me.

It was good
By ,
Liked beautiful grounds and setting. Pool very crowded. The room was dated and worn. I hope they have remodeled them because the decor looked very "tired." We had requested an adjoining room next to our grandchildren, son and his wife. What we got was a room that had a door to their room and our room had a hard little bed that folded out. Staff and room services was good, especially when some horrible black goo came up out of the tub in my son's room! They did come and clean it out, whatever it was. Dining was not terrible and not fantastic, but stick to the fast-food eatery and skip their pricier restaurant - it's not very impressive. Don't use the laundry unless an emergency! It's VERY expensive and doesn't do a very good job. Overall, the Coronado is average, we still had fun, but either would like to save $ next time and just do the Value Resorts or pay more and upgrade.

Love Coronado Springs and staff!
By ,
My husband could not get away, so I went on vacation alone. I had a wonderful time at Coronado Springs in January 2009. Because I come from a cold climate, I had a great time at the Diggs pool and on the water slide. The temperature in the afternoon was 68 to 70 degrees. That felt wonderful to me since it was -24 degrees where I come from. The flowers were wonderful. I am a master gardener. Just walking around the grounds and seeing the roses, rododendrons, roses of sharon and palm trees was enough reason to go to Coronado Springs. I had a piece of greecy piza that wasn't very good, but otherwise, the food at the Mayan grill was excellent. Try the sweet potato soup. Loved it. Be careful not to drink too much. They make the Long Island Ice Tea drinks at the Diggs pool and outside the convention center strong! I can't wait to get back. We are returning in March and have two water park tickets in addition to the park tickets for a week. Disney employees were so good to me as a visitor by myself. This almost sounds like an advertisement for Disney. I live in northern Illinois and have no financial interest in Disney. Forgot to suggest the noodle restaurant terrace as the best place to watch the Magic Kingdom parade and fireworks display. Get there early. There is a really great Disney gentleman who will show you the best place to view the fireworks. Tinkerbell flies from the peak of the tower right at you from that vantage point. Love Disney!

Any other resort but this!
By ,
The grounds are nice and the cast members are helpful, but that's about it. I highly recommend the Port Orleans resorts if you want to stay at a moderate resort. They are in a better location and much nicer than Coronado Springs. My room was about a very long walk to the main building and the bus stop was also a fairly long walk to get to as well. The last thing I want to do when coming home from the parks is walk! The room had some huge bugs in it when I checked in but that's Florida for you. Plus it was also very small and really no bigger than the rooms at the value resorts. So for the extra money, it was quite disappointing. My main complaint was getting food poisoning at the Pepper Market which put me in the hospital and ended my stay. Now the Pepper Market is pretty bad for several reasons including that you have to leave a 10% gratuity no matter what (they automatically add it to your bill). It's supposed to be a food court but it's neither owned nor operated by Disney so that's why they rip you off. Also most of them don't even speak english either so brush up on your espanol before you go.
