Put out on the street

Due to flight delays, we did not arrive at this hotel until 3:00 AM, but we had called them numerous times to confirm that we would definitely be arriving. When we got there, we were told that they did not have any more non-smoking double queen rooms, which we had specified when making our reservation, as our daughter was staying in the room with us. This did not make my wife and I very happy and, on further research, the completely clueless desk associate noticed that he had un upgraded King non-smoking room. I asked for that room for the night and told him that I would get out of it as soon as he had an available non-smoking double queen room, as we were planning to stay for a few nights. He said that he couldn't give it to us because rooms revert to the customer of the next day at 2:00 AM on his computer. Check in time is 3:00 PM, so we would have been out of the room long before the person arrived the next day, but he said he could not give us the room. I couldn't believe it. We had to go to another hotel at 3:30 AM because this dope said it was not an option to stay in the other room. We called the manager but, of course, he didn't answer his phone at that hour.
When I called the next day, the associates had apparently gotten together on their stories because the other person at the desk at that time said the guy the night before was mistaken and that there really wasn't another room available. I again asked for the manager, but again, he wasn't there. I finally just decided to stay in the other hotel for the rest of our stay.
