not as good as expected

We have just spent six or so days at the sevilla hotel in havana, and it really wasn't that great. The recption area is impressive (not air conditioned - the airconditioning failed while we were staying there and it became very hot in the rooms) and the ground bar ok for drinks and light snacks (everything comes with carrott or toast!). The rooms are basic some with good views over the city others with views of walls. The bathrooms are not too clean and the towls are not white!! however all are fitted with new sower heads that work well. Each room has a TV which picks up American news and film channels. The swimming pool is a great area and the pool is a really good size. The people working there were friendly. Watch out for the lifts which are slow generally and infrequent on the way down. DO go to the roof top resturant even if it is just for the views, it is amazing! (and the food isn't too bad)
The hotel is well positioned on the Prado about 5-10 minutes to the central square, 2 minutes a couple of museums, and about 15-20 minutes to the old town of havana.
I would recommend looking at the park central (amazing roof top pool and bar - a really nice feeling modern hotel) or the ambos mundos (hemingway's place right in the centre of the old city, but no pool) before finally deciding on this hotel.
Although it wasn't bad there are other options within Havana that are just as good and definately worth considering.
