Sleep Inn State College, State College

Behind the TV, it smelled like barf. Hopefully they cleaned it up after we tugged on the sprinkler with our #1 Michigan shirt. We had to evacuate the room the morning of the Michigan-Penn St. football game. They gave us another room in the filled place. They dried our clothes and acted pleasantly. We had to pay a handsome price to the manager Sunday morning. It was supposedly for the new room and cleanup. Courteous people about a 45 minute walk from the stadium through students walking and screaming from the parking lot where they party before the game.

If you decide to stay during the week, It is a good deal for the price. Everything is clean, good showers, and there is a nice little continental breakfeast in the morning. However, if you stay during the weekend for a Penn football game they will charge you double the price for a weekly stay, which is a sin:-(

Room was fine and clean. Staff was friendly. Used AARP Rate. Lots of parking in rear. A Comfort Suites is right next door. Breakfast was just ok. Not extraordinary. Place isn't new. You could see some removed graffiti on the bathroom wall. A/C worked well. Hall a/c right out side my door was noisy but not a bother once the room a/c was cranking. Elevator could've been cleaner. Check-in clerk didn't know anything about a room upgrade, when available, for Choice Club members. Also on their website when I made the reservation I requested extra towels in the room and there were none. A TGI Fridays restaurant is being built right out front. 7-23-05 It would be an uphill walk to one edge of the Penn State Campus and it would take maybe 10-15 minutes through a nice residential neighborhood. I think it would be too far to walk to downtown State College on the other side of the campus and it is way too far to walk to to the stadium or Jordan Center. There are plenty of restaurants within 5 minute drive. Hotel is supposed to be a Choice Hotel quality award winner but there was nothing obviously outstanding about the place.
