El Rancho Motel, Coronado

This is not a fancy place, it IS clean, quiet and close to everything. The price is right and I loved it. You need to be aware that you either make your own ice in the frig or bring a bag in. It has all you need but no frills. The wonderful Lupe runs the place and she is very delightful. I hope to stay there many more times.

This is an awsome place to stay. The small, quiet motel is located in walking distance to everything. From modern furniture, the super nice staff, to the georgious court yard... wow! I would recommend this motel to anyone who wants a clean room with modern flair.

The El Rancho motel on Coronado island is quite small and very quaint. It has been recently remodeled. This is not the Ritz, but it also costs a fraction of the upper level hotels on the island. Lupe is an old school charming lady. I will definitely stay at the El Rancho if I visit again.

We found this motel by accident. Our friends moved away from Coronado a few years ago, and we wanted to stay there for two days on our trip in 2006. We stayed here for one night and it was awful, the bathroom was not clean, there was actually clumps of curly hair on the floor and when I complained they said they would take care of it right away. When we got back to our room they clearly had been in there but the hair had just been moved around, gross! I then just decided to wear my shoes the whole night, I didn't dare walk barefoot. Beside that the toilet had hair on the seat....I just was not comfortable and got even a worse night sleep then when I am at home with my 4 month old :( Don't get caught up in the cuteness of this bungalo style motel...spend the extra $50 bucks if you want comfort and cleanliness, thank god we were only there for one night!

We were there for the Homecoming of my son's ship from Iraq. We had a very early flight and decided to take a nap before dinner. We had just got under the covers when our door opened. Lupe did not even knock! She said she was checking the light switch - yeah right! We padlocked our luggage when we left the room. The place was very small, but clean. It was the cheapest place on the island, though.

I had lived in Coronado for years and more recently moved out of the area. I came back to visit friends. I had heard that the El Rancho was remodeled. My room was very small. The first thing I noticed was that there were no spreads on the beds just white sheets. The room I was in was tiled on the lower half of the room and painted on the upper portion. It seemed like a hospital room with the white sheets on the beds. The room was hot. I opened the window and there was no screen on the window and the room was so small if some one would have reached in the window they would almost be able to touch the bed. I ran the fan or whatever it was all night and the room was never comfortable. The shower was so small that my elbows hit the back wall when I showered. I cut my trip short because of the discomfort of the room. It was reasonable and available and if you don't mind being hot and feeling you are in a hospital room this place is for you.

This little but quaint motel is perfect for the bargain hunter. Clean, central to all food and entertainment-even within walking distance and a very friendly helpful hostess. We would definitely visit again!

El Rancho was a very comfortable, clean and affordable place to stay on Coronado. It was so convenient to everywhere on the island and San Diego. The lady who runs it, Lupe, was just as sweet as she could be. We really enjoyed the whole vacation and the motel.
