NEVER, EVER, AGAIN
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/24/10
I liked almost nothing about this Historic Hotel. The one saving grace that I can say about the Hotel itself, is that it is interestingly enough, a relatively well preserved relic of years past! MOST ALL of the staff are of top caliber, friendly, helpful, and very accommodating........ . with the exception of ONE.. who at his very best, is IGNORANT, ARROGANT,ARGUMENTATIVE ,AGGRESSIVELY NASTY and might be best described as a social monster with a seemingly uninhibited hatred of of every non-Hispanic that walks in the door ... and the worst part about this creature, is that he seems to enjoy " his ostentatious" display of this VENOM as well as the aforementioned characteristics, to both fellow staff and guests alike, which, is for some reason tolerated by management regardless of the complaints. However because of its proximity to downtown, as well as the cites' gay bar district ... it seems to be the choice of "strays" if you will. A trip to this wonderful city would be far more enjoyable, spending a little more money, and walking away feeling that you were a guest and not a prisoner.

Ok the Waldorf Astoria it's not.
By Juan Gatos, 12/31/08
But what I like about it is that it's right in town, has lots of charm, friendly and dirt cheap. It may not be spotless but it's a hell of a lot cleaner than any place in J Town (Juarez). If you're looking for adventure, this is the place to stay.

good location if one has no car.
By DESMOND, 5/19/07
i did not have a car so the down town location was exellent, the rooms were very basic a lot of dust on window drapes, but the staff were very nice and it was cheap.a big plus though was the fact that one of the staff ran some tours in his own car with the blessing of the hotel management,he also did guided tours into mexico on foot at night which i enjoyed,in fact i went back to the gardner for a second visit.

Budget Lodgings
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/9/07
For $150/ week, you can't beat the good ole Gardner. The rooms are adequately clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. For three times the price you would doubtless have a nicer room but the Gardner has to be the best for the price in El Paso. The location is super too. You're two blocks from bus transportation to anywhere in El Paso.
