Aims for greatness, but achieves only mediocrity
Splash Lagoon, for those who dont know, is an indoor water park. Splash Lagoon is really this hotels main feature. You can reach the water park without ever stepping foot outside, making it a great summer getaway, even in the cold winter.
The hotel was rich with amenities. Our suite had two full-sized beds in the bedroom, a fold-out couch in the living area, a gas fireplace, two televisions, a fully equipped kitchen, and a whirlpool tub in the bathroom. It also boasted free Ethernet broadband Internet access if you brought your computer along. The morning breakfast buffet was a stress-free way start to the day.
The biggest failing, though, was how the place kept falling just short of my expectations. The service was good, but lacked in enthusiasm, and they overcharged us on our bill. The room was nice, but the aforementioned whirlpool tub was so filthy that we hesitated to even shower in it. The separate bedroom for the parents was great, but the fact that the kids had to walk through it in order to reach the bathroom was a disappointment.
Overall, it was a pleasant, but not must-have, experience, especially when they stay is measured in hundreds per night. Should we ever return to the joys of Splash Lagoon, we will probably look at one of the other attached hotels for our lodging needs.
