BEWARE OF DOLPHIN VACATIONS!!!!!! My husband and I rented from Dolphin Vacations for our honeymoon in January 2005. They were absolutely awful to us. We rented a house in Marathon. When we arrived, there was a pair of mens underwear hanging in the tree in front of the house and a work truck in the driveway. The house was supposed to be open for us; it was not. We went around to the backyard and discovered towels by the pool. It looked as though someone was staying there. We entered the house through the back patio door only to discover it was filthy. To make a long story short, no one had come to clean the house since the last renters (almost a week before our arrival). When we called to find out what was happening, Mary was VERY unhelpful. She knew it was our honeymoon and was not at all accomodating. She sent a cleaning woman who made the bed using the same dirty linens!!! There was no way we were spending our honeymoon there. When I told her they were ruining our vacation, Mary's response was to go to dinner and everything would be worked out - she did not assure me that they would take care of the problem. She suggested we go to dinner and yet at this point, my husband and I had no place to stay on the first day of our honeymoon. I would like to add that when we complained they would avoid my concern-they even said they could not understand why we were so upset. Mary eventually decided she could give us a condo, which is not what we had wanted at all. We made our plans months in advanced and stressed how we wanted privacy and our own house. When we complained to the local police, even they told us they have received many complaints about Dolphin Vacation rentals. All I have to say is BEWARE. When I filed a complaint with the BBB, the company sent a response that did not even pertain to our situation. They obviously get so many complaints that they cannot keep them straight. Anyone interested in more info, feel free to ask. (I have pictures and a BBB report). I would never recommend them and from what we were told by the local police and District Atty, you are taking your chances renting with them.
