Golden Parnassus Resort & Spa Adults Only All-Inclusive, Zona Hotelera

I just got back from this place last week. It was not that great if you are looking for friendly service. Only a few staff members were very nice. The front desk staff acted like they didn't want to do anything for you. Everytime I called room service they would tell me I had to call some other extention. The rooms were not very quiet unless you were on end of the hotel away from the bar in the lobby. It made a lot of noise. The food was OK...not great, but not that bad. I definately would not rate it a 4 diamond experience, more like a 2 or three at best.

We were disappointed with this place. 1) Drinks were watered down 2) No water pressure in showers 3) Minature golf was a joke 4) What happened to the beach? BEACH EROSION 5) Front desk not too friendly 6) Drilling holes to put up Christmas lights at 10:00 p.m. at night 7) If you have a room near the downstairs bar- forget about sleeping 8) Food was so-so- not great 9) Not what we expected it to be WILL NOT BE BACK

I can't believe this place has such good ratings. Have any of the people who scored this place above a "2" ever stayed in a true 4 or 5-star resort. The pictures on their web site are nothing like what the place looks like now. The pics must be really old. I saw a roach the size of my fist, paint peeling off the walls and my god the desk staff were horrible. Rude does not begin to describe their customer service skills. I dont' think I would stay at this dump again if they offered me a room for free. I wasted 10 days of vacation. Note to housekeeping - have you ever heard of fabric softener. The towels were so bad I might have been better off drying off with tree bark. Having stayed in a true 5-star in Cancun, this place just does not measure up. Take my word for it, spend the few bucks more for a real vacation.

we spent our holiday from jan 13 to jan 27/08. Reception had incompetent people or should i say they didn't care if you were standing there waiting. They did not acknowledge you. The noise was incredible at pool or in lobby.towels were often not in the room by 5 p.m. Bathroom fixtures hanging from ceiling dangerously and knob in bathroom not attached to door.cleaning of rooms were done in haste. bathroom mirrors not wiped, kleenex not refilled. Entertainment staff were friendly but disorganized and shows not very well done. all in all i will not go there again. i do however recommend going to see the royal cancun and get breakfast at a awesome hotel and listen to their speil. it was interesting and we joined the club real, for a steal. Good luck p.s. Bartenders were almost expecting tips or you got real bad service!!!!!!

We are a couple in our early 60's and we just came back from a week stay ending July 3. When we were there, there was nothing but complaints about the heat in the rooms being talked about among the guests. The rooms were never cool, I would say they never got below 85 except for 3:00 in the morning. We changed rooms once, as did most of the guests we talked to but it didn't help. The lobby and hallways are open air and must have been 110 degrees, the bar is in the lobby and therefore that was too hot to sit and relax at also. The breakfast and lunch restaurant was never cool either. We were uncomfortably hot the entire stay. The pool was nice, the rooms average, and the restaurants were very nice with plenty of variety The food was good but not outstanding The staff was excellent though and very attentive to your needs. And I did enjoy not having any children. The concierge kept pressuring you about a time share breakfast though, whenever you asked for help. I would have returned if not for the airconditioning problem, I need some relief from the heat and certainly didn't get any here. Oh, and the only good show was the Mexican show, the rest were the activity staff doing stuff.

This was my fourth trip to Cancun and the first time I have ever seen such rude hotel staff. The hotel was dirty, the pool was dirty, there was no hot water one morning. The water just stopped in the middle of a shower. The ceiling in the bathroom leaked and the shower didn't drain correctly. We had very nice jacuzzi tubs in the room, but they took an hour and a half to fill and the water wasn't hot. The food and entertainment was okay, but you couldn't enjoy it because it was so hot and the stinch of the hotel. BEWARE!!

THIS RESORT DO NOT HAVE A GOOD SERVICE OUR IN ROOM DINNER WAS LATE 55 MINUTES. WAITED 30 MINUTES FOR CHECK IN,REST. SHANGRI-LA VERY COLD YOUR FREEZING EATING YOUR DINNER,SUMO VERY HOT NO AIR AND HAS SLIPPERY FLOOR. BUT OVERALL THE RESORT'S OKAY FOR PEOPLE NEVER BEEN TO A 5 STAR RESORT. AND IF YOU WANT TO TRY THIS RESORT DO NOT STAY OVER A WEEK.THE BEACH IS VERY BEAUTIFUL BUT FOR ME THIS IS NOT FOR ROMANTIC GETAWAY EVEN SAYS ADULT ONLY. I LIKE THE GREEN SALAD LETTUCE ALWAYS FRESH AND CRISP. YUP THE LOBBY NO FLOWING AIR AND ELEVATOR'S DIRTY. LAID BACK STYLE MANAGEMENT!

We were very disappointed in that much of the hotel itself not being properly maintained. You can tell that the management is not diligent about maintenance and keeping the property in order. Our bathroom actually had a hole in the shower that we needed to stuff something in to feel comfortable. We have stayed at another resort south of Playa which was meticulously maintained and given the rating expected the same from this resort and were greatly disappointed. There is rust in many places and you can tell a quick fix was put in place after the hurricane in parts of the hotel to get it open. The pictures make it look great from a distance. The beach itself is very nice and all the staff in the bar areas are wonderful. The drinks themselves are pretty marginal as the hotel uses packaged mixes with limited quality. Shangri-La and Paradise restaurants were pretty good. The wait staff were very friendly. Several people we spoke with were disappointed in the Barn. The liked Sumo, but said they did not have enough staff and the service took a long time. My wife fell on some steps as we went to go shopping and the on-site doctor was wonderful about giving her stitches. The management then was very rude about the incident and actually said the some guests try to �manipulate the hotel� while they are there. This was said to us as they were giving us the bill for about $300 for the stitches and medicine (which they marked up from the pharmacy). Unfortunately this is another example of poor management, which is too bad as the staff is friendly and deserves much more. By the time you account for the medical bill they charged us with, it would have been cheaper to stay at the Ritz Carlton next door. This hotel looks like the poor neighbor next door.

Stayed for one week in February. Though we had a mix up on the room the first night they moved us to ocean front room the second. Food was good and service great. Did however catch the bartender filling the liquor bottles up with water one morning. Found out that if you leave them a tip they reach under the counter for the good stuff. Do not ask for change, they only offer this in mexican money. The best thing was no children running around. Book early because they do fill up quick. Going back this coming February.

i was there for 5 days in august 2004 and i am heading back for 7 days this weekend of july 2005. i really enjoyed all the staff at golden crown paradise spa.
