A real Bahamian experience
Dillet's is a comfortable 15-20 minute walk from downtown Nassau. The historic Bahamian home is owned and operated by two wonderful women -- Danielle, and her gracious mother Iris. From the moment you arrive, you become a valued part of their family.
The rooms are not at all fancy, but fully functional and clean. A simple continental breakfast is served each morning between 8 and 10 AM in the dining room. The living room, with TV and CD player, is an inviting gathering point for guests from around the world. Danielle and Iris often join their guests for casual conversation.
Walking is definitely an option from Dillet's. Cable Beach, home of Breezes, the Nassau Beach Hotel, the Wyndham Hotel, and others, is a scenic, comfortable 5-mile walk along a sidewalk adjacent to the clear blue waters of Nassau. A cool breeze makes this walk a pleasure.
A short walk (5-10 minutes) from Dillet's is the Cricket Club at Haines Oval. This restaurant, overlooking the cricket field, serves delicious, affordable meals at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Traditional American/English items are found on the menu, but I'd recommend you try the native Bahamian dishes, which are excellent.
The small pool at Dillet's isn't ideal for anyone serious about swimming laps, but it's perfect for those who just want to cool off at the end of the day. During my stay, it was a friendly gathering place for many guests during the late evening hours.
I would not hesitate to stay at Dillet's again, and it is with confidence that I highly recommend it. It's a true Bahamian experience.
