Don't Wait for the Airport Shuttle
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/8/07
I had read on their website that they had a 24-hour airport shuttle, and on arrival to STL airport I headed out to the "hotel shuttle" area on the curb. After seeing every other hotel chain's shuttle go by 1-2-3 times, I went back inside and noticed a "courtesy phone" installation near the exit. I punched the number for the Embassy Suites and was told they would be "right there" to get me. 30 minutes and another phone call later, still no-show, and I had to convince the Crowne Plaza driver to give me a lift.
At check-in, the manager on-duty told me I should have known that they only run the shuttle every 30 minutes "on request only."
The room was nice and clean. It was a Saturday night, and the hotel had allowed an extended family to rent a meeting room for a birthday party, and I guess their fee included the right for 50 children to roam anywhere in the hotel they desired (pool, fitness center, stairwells, etc.) No one on hotel seemed to care, or to clean up after all the mess.
Wireless internet costs $10 in guest rooms per day, and connection signal was weak.
If staying near the airport is all you want, I would not spend any extra money to select this hotel.
