Mineral Palace Hotel and Gaming, Deadwood

Not only is this business highly overpriced, the management seems to put personal trips (to Vegas for example) ahead of obligations to treat their staff appropriately and fairly. They STILL owe a lower management employee over $1,600 in wages--primarily for a check that was due to the employee in the beginning of October--(the check was somehow 'lost' and then stop payment was done and a NEW check was to be reissued...yet this new check has been "...in the mail", "...not signed off on by the owner", "on it's way", "...awaiting approval", and numerous other excuses...meanwhile the employee awaits payment, goes into debt because an entire paycheck is lost, and the owner, GM, and manager go to Vegas!!! Hope you had a blast guys! Oh, and the best part, the employee had his attorney call the business and interestingly was then "random" drug tested (and passed) and then suspended while the 3 tops went to Vegas, and then fired a month before Xmas for supposedly not putting all the hours in...and still awaits the Oct 2010 paycheck!!! AWESOME PLACE HUH? SPEND YOU\R MONEY ELSEWHERE.

The hotel was dirty, there was hair on the sheets and all over the bathroom. When we called to complain, "Laurie", the manager, told us that she could not do anything about it. They did not have staff and no other rooms were offered. The hotel was not managed properly. The food in the "Gem" was good. "Carrie" was very pleasant and professional. The casion was good too. Won't be sleeping there again though!!!

This was a real good place to stay. No complains on anything. Try it.you will like it. Great food also.......

Management seems to be trying to run a nice hotel on the cheap, with fewer staff to serve guests, but prices not going down accordingly. The staff seem harried and overworked, and unhappy in their jobs. Location is not good for parking. Only marginal compliance in decor and none in employee attire with Deadwood's unique Old West theme. There are better hotels in Deadwood.

We stayed at the Mineral Palace Express during the Corvette rally in July. The hotel is nice and it was reasonably priced. The front desk clerk was very nice. She apologized for the price (around $100) and said the price would go down after the rally. We thought $100 was definitely reasonable. We will definitely stay there again.

The Hotel room was dirty and not cleaned before our stay. We contacted the manager, Laurie, and asked for a different room or that this room be cleaned and were told that, "at this hour it would be impossible, and they are short handed in the maid staff." I was amazed that I was told this by the "manager" and asked to speak to her boss. She then told me that she had beed a manager at a Hyatt or Hilton and these things happen. If this was true, the Palace is in terrible hands.

I have stayed at the hotel several times. I find the hotel fine. However I did have a very rude dealer on three card. Not one time but twice..same person. I think the casino needs to select their employees better.I am still thinking of calling the management.

nice verity of slots. largest casino in deadwood. dealers friendly. Our room was on main floor just off casino, no door to seperate hotel and casino. room was on main street, could not open curtain without people on sidewalk or on thr street looking in.
