rude guests
By me, 01/25/09
One would think that people who are naked would be just a little friendly, but I have never encountered such rude snobs in my life. If you smile, you get a dirty look in return, if you say HI, you get a dirty look. Rooms were old and shabby. We checked out after just one night, we couldn't handle all the rude guests.

We're there as much as possible
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/20/08
The resort transfered to new owners (again) in March of 2008 and it is back to its original glory. The staff is fantastic, the grounds are immaculate and beautiful, and the people are wonderful. You're doing youself a disservice by not trying this resort out. There were some minor issues over 2007 with the then-owners, but they're gone and the new owners are commited to quality and a fun, relaxing, friendly, family environment.

The Best Place to Relax
By krista, 07/25/08
First I want to respond to the man who gave it one star. It is inexplicable that the staff called your wife a farm animal. I don't blame you for leaving and hating this place. However, I would like you and everyone else know that normally, this is an absolutely fantastic resort. I am going back in a week for my fifth trip, and it is the best place I found to really relax, as well as a beautiful nudist resort - I'm sure other nudists can attest to this - it is quite a branching off from the normal campsite with a small pool atmosphere or the more swinging atmosphere like Caliente. The resort has gone through some changes in management lately, from the Paynes (who founded it and were wonderful people) to Dan and Laura (not sure thier last names). These two were awful owners and made me feel the same way you two did: despite my love for the resort, I had not planned on returning, but luckily, the resort is yet again in new ownership, is now called Desert Sun Resort, and is set back to the family-oriented fun and relaxing resort it once was. Please try to give this new staff a chance! The resort is very amazing!

Best Clothing optional resort!
By MJ, 01/25/08
We stayed her on Jan 19th, 2008. Staff was friendly and courteous. New owners Dan and Laura were gracious and made you feel comfortable and welcome. Grounds were immaculate, rooms were clean. Pool and Spa were very clean although the pool could be warmer this time of year. Restaurant food was excellent and good value, full bar. We've been to several C/O resorts and this is our favorite. Downside is restaurant is only open on weekends. We definitely recommend this place for couples to relax and have a great time. Bob & MJ

Wonderful experience!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/02/07
I enjoyed the property-so gorgous and full of wonderful front desk staff. I have to say that my experience at this Nudist Resort was remarkable and we are so excited to visit again!!!!The rooms are well put together and the complimentary continental breaskfast is a huge plus. Front desk hospitality was well apprecited and helped us make plan for the Cochella Valley area!!!!!

Owners/Staff are Extremely Rude
By Paul, 05/20/07
Some friends recomended Desert Shadows so we thought we would try a weekend there. My wife and I have been to many nudist resorts over the years and this was absolutely the worst experience we have ever had. First impression was not good: the grounds are small, the fountains and pool dirty, ice machine not working, and the rooms were rather old and grungy and not at all worth the premium price they charge. We did have nice afternoon mingling with the other friendly naturalists. But on several occasions the new owners and some of the staff were extremely rude to us as well as some of the other guests. When one of the employees called my wife a "farm animal" that was just too much so we packed our bags and left before even spending one night there. If your looking for a nice resort with friendly staff, this is not it!

Only a" Two Star Resort" at the moment
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/04/06
Absolutely brilliant location & absolutely brilliant staff especially Sylvia the masseuse. The food was good and good value (when available)however the complimentary breakfast was poor and was only provided at weekends - fortunately there are good restuaraunts within walking distance. The evening dinner only operated on Friday & Saturday. Our room was full of crickets, we were given an earosol insecticide to compensate, before we left after a ten day stay we had to buy a second one at the local supermarket to keep our room free of insect life - we're not used to that sort of experience comming from England!!! We had to call for assistance on the evening of our last day there when the shower waste refused to drain. The room was tatty and the mattress on the bed had seen better days. Not what I had expected after reading countless reports and viewing the resorts website. At the tariffs charged I expected an upmarket experience - this was not. The resort is evidently sheduled for a major rebuild in June/July next year which no doubt accounts for the run down state of the rooms also our visit was in November which possibly accounts for the restricted dining facilities. This may be O.K. for the Americans, however if you're from Europe a far better deal is available at the VERAPLAYA CLUB HOTEL on the Spanish Costa's. Would I go back? - YES! but only after I had verified the services available and after the rebuild is completed.

Desert Shadows Inn
By G-Mac, 10/26/06
Had a great time here. A bit on the expensive side considering that most clothing optional resorts will let you go free the first time. Did like the poolside drink service and the food was good. Not alot of integration though. Mostly old guys with big gold chains and young wives full of silicone. Not as friendly as Deer Park or GE in Corona. Rooms are REALLY expensive but the naked bridge over one of the busiest roads was a hoot.
