It was ok but nothiing fancy !
By Brandon A., 1/29/12
I stayed 4 days in the hotel and my only complaints was we could not get service at all half the lights in the room didn't work and we reported it to the front desk the first hour we were there and 4 days later we still did not have lights. it just looked very old to me and the plastic furniture was a joke i had never seen that before anywhere lol. I don't think i would stay there again but if i had to i guess i could manage.

BEDBUGS
By K, 8/16/11
I made rerservations with The Greenview at 1671 Washington Avenue, but when I arrived I was told that they had neither a reservation for me nor a room. The girl at the front desk called the Aqua Hotel & Lounge and I was told to head there, which was three blocks away. I believe they are both under the same owners. I had to walk at 10:30 at night, a solo young woman, with all of my luggage because they would not call me a cab and I couldn't catch one outside. Apparently I got the last room they had, because people coming in after me were turned away. I was given room #205 which had two double beds in what looked like a dorm room. Both sets of mattresses and boxsprings were wrapped in hard plastic. The next day I thought I saw some bites on my left arm, but did not think too much of it. That second night, as I lay in bed, I started to notice more welts on my arm. At 1:30am, I got up, turned the lights on, and started looking at the sheets. I found bedbugs in the sheets and crawling on a pillow. I noticed even more welts, now on both arms. I took a plastic cup from the bathroom, got a bedbug in it, and then stacked another cup inside of it to trap but not crush it. I went to the front desk and showed the young man down there my arms and the bedbug. I told him that I was going upstairs to pack all of my things and that when I came down, he was moving me to another location. I went upstairs and took my clothes off of the second bed which I had to lay there because the "closet" only had two shelves with blankets tied up in a garbage bag. I eventually found that this bed also had bedbugs crawling on it, so I would not be able to wear any of the clothes I had brought with me. Thankfully I had made a few clothing purchases earlier in the evening. I collected more bedbugs, including one engorged with blood, and went back downstairs to the front desk. The desk clerk told me that he would only move me to The Greenview, and not to another business. I told him that they had told me the previous night that they had no more rooms for the entire weekend, and that if the same people clean both places, I was not about to go there if they had had a room available. Then he told me that I had to wait until morning, which meant that I would have to go back upstairs and sleep on one of the two bedbug-infested beds. I called the third party that thankfully I had booked my original hotel through, and they moved me to another hotel. After I left, more welts began showing up on my body. I have welts on my torso, chest, and I look as if I have sleeves of welts on both of my arms. All in all, I have approximately 50 bites from bedbugs from this establishment on me. I have no idea what diseases these insects may have been carrying or may have transmitted to me, and I have no medical insurance.

Awesime inexpensive hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/17/07
the day staff was awesome particular Louis, he's from the area and REALLY KNOWS how to give you a tip based in what you're looking for, the hotel is very nice and clean and if you're not so demanding and don't want to feel like staying in one of those chain hotels then this is the right hotel to stay in SoBe, great young vibe in it. we also loved the complimentary breakfast, it was really good compare to what others hotels offer, my friends came one morning for breakfast but don't tell anybody, lol.

Watch out for their Web site
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/8/07
I thought we were going to stay at a chic hotel like any other hotels in South Beach after seeing thier Web site. Wrong. Everything at the hotel looked so old and unchic. The exterior of the hotel already turned me off when we arrived. The patio looked so nasty. And when I opened the door. I almost cried. A bare concrete floor?! Plastic furniture?! There was no valet parking or lounge. The hot tub seemed uncleaned with all the rain pouring into it every day. Shabby room design and the thin wall, I could hear the couple next door getting busy day and night, remind me of a college dorm. Not recommended for anyone but especially couples if you want to spend romantic vacation. There are so many nice boutique hotels in SoBe in affordable price. We felt so relieved when we stayed at a Days Inn motel on the way home after this experience. Never come back again.

aqua nightmare
By Silvia, 4/9/07
Management at the hotel did nothing to stop all night partying of hotel guests, resulting in no sleep for two nights straight despite complaint to front desk. I do not recommend the place and would never stay there again. Am surprised that Yahoo Travel would even include such a place as part of there travel packages!!! I used to think I could trust Yahoo Travel to do some pre-screening. Guess I was wrong. The convenience of the location does not override the decrepit bathroom fixtures and the lack of management in providing a quiet sleep environment.

Jail House Chic
By Aline S, 4/5/07
Yes, the Aqua is one short stroll to the beach. Yes, you are within sight of the pretty people. Yes, there fabulous restaurants, bars and clubs an easy stumble from your door. And if that's all you need in a hotel, then Aqua is for you. But if cement floors, plastic furniture and a little mold in the showers turns you off, then you might want to pay the extra and cross Collins Ave to a more upscale hotel.

Good time at the Aqua
By Jeff, 6/24/06
My girlfriend, (2nd day of the trip became my fiance) had a great time in Miami Beach and staying at the Aqua. Now the rooms are not that great, but not the horror stories you may hear in some of the other reviews. Yes it has concrete floors, but it is very clean and the staff, is simply AWESOME! They were so nice and helpful, even gave us a styrofoam cooler when ours broke in the lobby! You have no control for the AC in you room, but we just went right down the street to a walgreens and bought a 20 inch box fan and slept great. It can be a little noisy, but come on people, you are on miami beach. Other than to go pass out, why are you in your hotel room? This place is a stones throw from the beach, 2 blocks north is the lincoln road, and 2 1/2 blocks south east is ocean ave. One thing I would suggest is maybe buying a beach chair and umbrella once you got down there, rental on the beach for 2 chairs and an umbrella is 30$ a day, which can add up real fast. We would go back in a second, and definitely stay at the aqua. The price is right, and beleive me there is plenty of stuff to spend your money other than a hotel room that you spend minimal time in just to sleep.
