Parkway Motel, Red Wing

Everything was great I would tell everybody this is this best kept secret in Red Wing Clean and owners are great!

I stay here a lot and always have been happy here. It is a basic, safe, quiet, clean, motel. Each room has free wi-fi with good signal, microwave, frig, recliner, cable TV. Right off main highway 61 & drive right up to motel room door (an ol' mom & pop kinda motel). Walking distance to restaurants, stores, and grocery. The family who own it, live on site and are very kind... always giving me the lowest price in town. I travel both for business (consult RN) & pleasure (Red Wing is a great town to escape to!) Its an older motel, so isn't perfect... but that ads to the quaintness for me. Depends on what you are looking for in a motel... For me... I'm gonna stay at Parkway everytime I go to Red Wing.

When we phoned and talked to a nice young "american" man, he quoted us a very reasonable price. When we arrived a week later, and my husband went in to pay the bill, the actual owner who was a foreign gentleman, (the owner) charged my husband over $30 more than we were quoted. When I tried speaking with him, we argued about it a bit and he denied the original quoted price, and told me the next time that we came, he would give us a discount (a good deal he said), which after he told me the price, was the actual price of the room in the first place! The first (and last time) that we stayed in the room, the room was ok but was outdated, carpets and chairs were stained.

The Parkway Motel is one of Red Wings best kept secrets, when it comes to great value lodging. I travel for business and have stayed at many 5 star hotels chains around the world. Many of them cost 10 times as much and offer less comfort. Over the past 15 years, I have stayed at the Parkway over 200 times and is the only place I stay at when I am in Red Wing. It is a friendly family owned Inn with great customer service. The Inn is a "vintage park at your door" style motel. Located on the main Hwy with a quiet residential area to the back. No Pool and no Free Breakfast, but with the money you save, treat yourself and go out for a nice big breakfast and pocket the savings. Sportsmen seem to love the place with lots of parking for boats and equipment, Business folks enjoy a place that feels like home, and tourists who don't want the cookie cutter lodging experience, enjoy its quaintness. The Parkway's owners continue to update the motel rooms on a regular basis. There is almost always something that has been updated each time I stay. These folks take pride in their business. I love the Parkway's recliner chairs (in most rooms), and an in room sink, plus one in the bathroom. The Parkway is close to everything in Red Wing and the surrounding area. It's not fancy or new, but it is comfortable and convenient. It has typically been the best value in town for years. I have arrived at all hours of the night and never had a safety issue or concern. The buildings and premise are well lit and the owner / operators live on site and are available if there are issues in the night. Book early because weekends fill up fast! Oh, and please save room for me. Happy travels. :-)

dont be fooled by other bad reviews...this is easily the best motel in red wing. its clean, affordable, and the beds are really comfy. for the price they gave me, it is the best motel in the area! i recommend it to all!!!

I got the best sleep in years at the place and the price is unbeatable, i might just go back there just to sleep in those warm, fluffy, and soft beds.....plus the service is nice too, i recommend this place to all my friends and family traveling in the area....

I loved my stay there....the rooms were so quiet and clean...The beds were so comfy...much better than the other franchise motels...i would recommend this for anyone who visits red wing,MN

I loved all the luxury i got when I stayed there. My room came with free coffee, HBO, a mini-fridge, a freezer, and a microwave. The workers were also very friendly....if i wanted an extra pillow the manager would come it with in minutes to serve my needs. Great hospitality at and affordable price. You can't beat $49 a night!

I was a little nervous of what I might find when I walked into the office and found out the rate. It was so low, I assumed the worst about the rooms - I was very wrong. The rooms were extremely clean and well kept. If ever in the area again, I would definitely go back.

Okay. After reading the other reviews I had serious reservations (npi) about this place. But our room was $55 with tax on a Friday night ($20 cheaper than ANYTHING else in the area), and it included: a table, a chair, a lounge chair, a comfortable clean bed, a microwave, a minifridge, and a good AC unit. Yeah, there's no inner hallway, and if the motel were picked up and dropped in the ghetto, that might mean something. But the motel is in a RESIDENTIAL area, by which I mean we looked out our back window and saw the fronts of nice houses. The door has a nice padlock and one of those sliding locks. Pretty much the only amenities you have to do without are free shampoo (they have standard hotel soap) and free internet. The guy who took our reservations WAS a little unorthodox, but he's just trying to keep his family business afloat. The rest of the service was great. Seriously, give it a try, especially if you're TI-bound.
