Econo Lodge and Suites Pekin, Pekin

Econo-Lodge , I get it ..the name says it.. economy lodging..No frills , nothing fancy.. We were just looking for a clean place to stay and well , got disappointed.. Really disappointed..Yes , the price was cheap ... and so was the upkeep of the facility..Checked into the NON_SMOKING room that appeared clean at first glance, but did smell smokey..As we continued into the room we found holes in the wall from where the towel rack was moved and not covered back up with drywall spackle wall paper sections cut out, dirty grounds in the coffee pot and dried urine on the bathtub side of the toilet ( sadly noticed that after getting out of the shower :-( . i turned on the exhaust fan to clear the steam.. Can see Dead BUGS in the cover of the exhaust fan .Was this the normal status for this name brand national hotel chain ? We left the room and the front desk was very nice and said they would notify housekeeping .. yes the coffee pot and urine was cleaned.. too late as the the impression is everlasting.(.I would not expect this even from a mom and pop motel for a guys only fishing trip) .. The breakfast was stated as Deluxe Continental in the guide in the room.. Stale danishs - six of them , 3 bagels in a bag and about a dozen pieces of small apples and oranges in a small bowl .(Ok , maybe there was a run on them, after all , I did go down there about an hour after breakfast started. breakfast hours stated 6am -10am). there was three containers of cereal -did not try them..I can compliment the coffee - good cup of coffee. Sad to say , but it was No different on day two of our stay..I know , right .. To sum it all up - NOT A CLEAN HOTEL . THE CORPORATE OFFICE SHOULD TAKE NOTE OF THIS SADLY PERFORMING , RUN DOWN ESTABLISHMENT..to think I'm a card carring member of CHOICE ( or in this case - a NOT SO CHOICE ) HOTELS

I would rate the overall appearance of this hotel as poor. Furnishings were in poor condition. Carpet had stains. This hotel is showing its age. It is apparent money is not allotted for upgrades. Bed and pillows were uncomfortable. The breakfast the next morning was a complete sham. I don"t believe stale danish and bagels would be considered a breakfast. Room was well overpriced. If I were in this area again I would not return to this hotel !

This hotel was remodeled because of a fire, so like others were saying about a smoke smell.. It may be for that reason. Plus some people will smoke in a non-smoking room regardless of a sign.

I was very unhappy with the staff and service of this hotel! Pets were welcome but my 2 dogs were thrown out!!!! I was told that they barked at night and that was false as I was in the room with them at night and would have been awakened if they barked. Pet fee to stay one night was $10.00, but they added another 10 a night for the other dog (is this really necessary???). They should have stated this on the ammenities list!! Had to ask everyday for more towels. The first 2 days they did'nt even clean our room!! I will not be staying again at this hotel. They were very rude to me about my dogs. There just wasn't anything I liked about the hotel. The room was so-so. It was a very uncomfortable stay!!!

We stayed one night. The rooms were some what clean. The pool was indoor and not heated. It was very cold. The breakfast was slim pickens. There is a language barrier that does not help the customer feel welcome or comfortable. We would not stay again.

We are from the area originally, and had to find somewhere to stay when visiting from Germany. The location is SUPERB for Pekin. Walmart is 1 block down the street, with a wide variety of restaurants in the immediate area. Services within the hotel were unexpected. Houskeeping goes through daily, and you have to ENSURE that if you want to keep something, make sure it is put away or they will discard it. We had some Walmart bags on the floor that were thrown away by housekeeping. Our mistake I guess. When checking in, make sure you get them to charge you PRIOR to your stay. The people behind the counter obviously are not too fluent in English, for NOONE understood what I was asking, nor did they understand the programs of Choice Hotels (referring to the rewards program). I stayed 11 nights, and got NO stamps for my stay. Watch this for the $50 credit or free night stay is well worth it when you travel alot. Watch your final bill when using a credit card, for it still is NOT correct on my stay. I was overcharged, and still haven't been refunded the difference. Overall, it IS worth the stay. A convenient location overall, within an obviouosly new hotel. Makes all the difference when you are looking for something to call home for however long you are gone.
