Enjoyable stay
By alan, 9/3/11
We stayed in the loft suite, which consisted of two king sized beds and two twins in the loft. The room was clean and the towels weren't dingy like someone else had mentioned in their review. The beds were very comfortable (soft not hard like other hotels), slept very well, better then any other hotel beds. The staff was very friendly, and they set out a nice continental breakfast , it filled up our family until well after lunch. Our room was cleaned with plenty of fresh towels when we arrived back into our room each day. The helicopter business next door was not an issue because it appears to be permanently closed for business. We had a great 5 nights at the Roosevelt Inn, and will definitely stay again when we are again in the Keystone area. Thanks for the hospitality!

We will never return
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/8/05
The room was very disappointing. The towels and sheets were dingy and the room had an odor of sour cheese and floral air freshener. The double wide window was at ground level with a view of the parking lot. The room was stuffy and when we opened the window people would speak to us as they unloaded their cars. It was horrible. We left the hotel and found more satisfactory accommedations.

Simple, clean, comfortable
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/15/07
Great location, very clean rooms. Price at $109 seemed high for a fairly basic room, but it was less than the chain motels in Keystone were charging. Restaurant on site only served pizza and sandwhiches. We didn't try the Pizza but another customer said it was excellent. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom small but adequate. Nice pool and hot tub, both seemed well maintained. Kids loved the game room with free games. Room had coffee maker, dvd player besides the usual motel stuff. Keystone is kind of touristy and expensive. A meal for four at a nearby restaurant was over $70!

So-So Place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/3/07
Roosevelt Inn was an ok place to stay. The rooms were clean. The best part of the hotel was the family room where they had a pool table, big screen tv, and arcade games. The kids really loved this. The rooms were somewhat small with very small bathrooms for price paid. The pool was small and the kids were not able to stay in it long due to too much chlorine. Parking was inconvenient, but manageable. This was not a bad place to stay, but not so much for family. The photo on the website is very misleading. It shows the hotel nestled in the valley with nothing around it. This is abviously an old picture.

You don't get what you pay for in Keystone
By Daniel Scherer, 4/12/06
I was sold on the Roosevelt Inn after having visited thier website, now I wish I had spent more time looking for other reviews. Keystone is a tourist trap plain and simple. The lodging is over priced and the food leaves a lot to be desired. Take my advice and visit Mount Rushmore but stay in Custer or Hill City, much friendlier and a way better value. Also the Roosevelt Inn's website is somewhat misleading when it comes to other towns in the Black Hills.

Very Nice and Exceptional Value
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/23/05
Our family stayed here in August 2004 and we will be going back again this summer. The hotel advertises that it is like a small European hotel and having traveled to Europe on several occasions, we would have to agree. It is very similar to the type of hotel recommended by the travel writer Rick Steves: Small, family owned and operated, super clean and a great value. Despite the way the building looks in pictures, the hotel has only about 25 rooms so getting a booking there can be hard sometimes. When we tried to book for this summer our first choice of dates was already sold out. We changed our plans so we could stay there. The hotel is that good. The room we had was like rooms in much more expensive hotels or upscale chains. It was much nicer than you might expect. Ours had a balcony, a 27-inch tv, coffee maker with free coffee no less, a refrigerator and even a DVD player. (But no iron or ironing board. The managers claim people who vacation there don't need to iron, but they will give you an iron and a small ironing board at the front desk.) They also have a game room with a`free pool table and a free foosball game, plus a tv with a huge screen for movie watching. The swiming pool was nice and they keep the water extra warm. They also have a hot tub. There is no exercise room, however. Everything was absolutely spotless -- I think the owners must be from Europe because you rarely see this attention to detail in America anymore. The hotel is located in the town of Keystone which is little more than a strip of shops, restaurants and motels just before you get to Mt. Rushmore. So if you have to do any real shopping, do it in Rapid City before you get to Keystone. On the other hand Keystone is right in the center of the Black Hills so you are close to all the tourist and sightseeing spots. By the way, the people at the hotel were extremely helpful with sightseeing tips and they willing to to take time to visit with us. Overall this hotel was a very positive experience. It is not like the standard cookie cutter chains and the people working there are extremely friendly and helpful.
