Monterey Non-Smoker Hotel, Albuquerque

Definitely was a pleasant place to stay! My room view was great and so was the breakfast! If any of u wanna save money on it tho I'd suggest using SweetHotelDeals. Net They have some really good prices on there!!

We loved our stay. The hotel was clean, the room was a nice size, the pool was beautiful and well maintained, the rose bushes were beautiful and the hotel was within walking distance of Old Town. We enjoyed our stay tremendously and would certainly stay there again if we went back to New Mexico. The only thing that we did not like was that the sheets had a nice clean smell (maybe the detergent or fabric softener) that was somewhat difficult for me because I have asthma. The owner wasn't able to rewash the sheets not using any detergen to get rid of the scent, but we could have washed them ourselves in the laundry room provided if it had been a major problem.

Stayed here while travelling Rt. 66. First the motel has an EXCELLENT location. walking distance from Old Town, Botanic Gardens, etc. Rooms were clean and tidy. The pool is also nice. HOWEVER, the owners aren't friendly. My wife was asked 5 times in 10 minutes while checking in whether or not she smoked. There are signs EVERYWHERE (don't do this, don't do that, etc) and when you pass the owners and say "hi", they just walk on by. And the whole "non-smoking" thing is a marketing ploy. Every room at other hotels we stayed in that was a "non-smoking room" never smelled of smoke, so those reviewers who were wowed that the rooms didn't smell might want to ask for a "non-smoking room" where-ever they stay. We probably won't stay here the next time we return to Albuquerque and will stay at the El Vado 1 block south.

Monterey Motel is a wonderful non-smokers paradise. The rooms are clean and attractive and, of course, do not smell like smoke. The pool is clean and able to be enjoyed without having someone sitting poolside using the pool as an ashtray. Great owners, excellent hospitality, near Old Town, your best bet.

The couple who own/operate the Monterey are great. I stayed there before they took it over and they have improved on an already excellent motel. I hesitate to send this in as it may mean that I won't be able to reserve there when next I'm in Albuquerque - its where I stay whenever I'm in that fair city.

I was attending a conference at a nearby hotel 0.4 miles away, but always like to stay in smaller places. The couple who operate this small 16 (17?) room hotel just SW of the Old Town District do a good job of maintaining an "old Route 66 style motel". Nice bedding, good TV, etc. It is close to Botanic Garden, Zoo, Art Museum, National Atomic Museum, and the Old Town District.
