Mound View Inn, Platteville

I'm a poor student so I went to the Mound View Inn since it was the lowest priced. "$55/night!" I thought. Actually, it was $65/night ($5 off/night for student discount). I didn't mind the strange furniture or the burns on the carpet as it was a smoking room (last available room at that price). But while watching TV before going to bed I noticed a small roach on my sheet. I flicked it away and did not dare turn out all the lights for fear of ending up like the guy in Creepshow. The next day I noticed about four more of these guys crawling around the room, on the TV, in the refrigerator, etc. I drowned some in a cup of listerine and left them out just in case the management was unaware of their infestation. On day 2 of my $60/ night camping trip, I noticed a species of cockroach I was more familiar with. That's right, two unique species live in this place, making it a veritable ecosystem. I also noticed a bottle of Mr. Pibb under the bed next to mine. Clearly, these rooms aren't thoroughly cleaned. I almost threw up when I saw another guest eating something from the continental breakfast. Unless you're an aspiring entomologist, I'd stay away from the Mound View Inn.

This motel is the best value around. Clean rooms, good beds, free wireless internet in all the rooms, and lots of cable channels to pick from. You won't get the best continental breakfast around, but you won't go hungry either. Plus, you will save a lot of money over the chain motels.

super clean hotel and best prize we paid. my parrents lives in platteville they recommended to us and we recommend to others also. nice land scaping and nice view in morning and also quite room we have. we had fun in hot tub, water was so hot. and morning breakfast was good.we stayed here meny times.

The motel is clean and well maintained. The staff are available and willing to assist. Great value for the price. The breakfast is a great plus!

Conveniently located just off Hwy 151. Must drive a short distance for shops or food. Rooms are large, well decorated and always clean. Sometimes smells of cigarette smoke in the hall but never in the nonsmoking rooms. As a woman traveling alone I feel safe here and the staff is friendly and helpful. Good selections available for breakfast.
