A quaint little place
By Divina, 9/24/08
Best Location posible. Just outside the main entrance to Seqoia National Park. Cute rooms. Comfortable bed. Had everything you need for a motel. They provided a basket with fruit and muffin and we enjoyed the fabulous view from out back porch to the rive. I would definitely go again.

Excellent choice
A beautiful, well run, unique property that truly provides an intimate natural expereince with modern, clean conveniences. Innkeepers and staff incredibly helpful and nice. The river runs on the edge of the property and has magical quality under the full moon. Resturant/bar within walking distance. Trails for hiking and riding very close. Interesting artists and shoppes in town. Ask for map as they are not all centrally located in 3 rivers. Enjoy! Can't recommend enough.

our annual trip
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/24/08
The most relaxing atmosphere ever. We loved the location, short walk to restaurant and bar. The river was right out our back door, with the roar of water lulling us to sleep at night. On one end is the Sequoia National Park on the other is the Kaweah Lake. Fruit and juices on the table daily were a nice touch. Stacy and Dennis are excellent hosts and take pride in their establishment. We also stayed in the cabins across the road owned by them. Great time at both locations we have been going 2 times a year for 3 years now and we love that we can take our pampered pooch with us.

Stay away if you dont smoke
The Good: The hotel is very close to the south entrance of the park. It is also right next to a wonderful river that adds to an awesome view of beautiful hills from the hotel window and balcony. When the river is full, you can hear it roar which combined with the fresh air makes for a relaxing experience. The lady that mans the front desk (Victoria) in the evening is very nice and adds to the overall experience as well as the friendly and free roaming cats that live on the property. The refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and TV were nice to have. The rate for a king bed was very reasonable. The Tolerable: The bathrooms are very small with the toilet snuggled neatly between the wall and the sink making for an interesting experience when your business involves numbers higher than 1. The place is clean but definitely showing signs of age. Sometimes the box springs in the bed were louder than the birds outside. It had a feeling of indoor camping. Hair dryer not supplied by the hotel – all you get are 2 dispensers in the shower for shampoo and body soap. The walls are thin and you can hear everyone else moving and knocking about in their rooms. The “breakfast basket” is okay but not breakfast. With so many good bakeries in town – see Wee Three Bakery – they could have used it as a nice way to advertise the local eateries. The Ugly: Smokers. The rooms share a community balcony and the cigarette smoke seems to find its way directly into your window. On our second night some human chimneys checked into the room next to us and we were forced to close all the windows and run the air conditioner. Needless to say we felt cheated of being able to experience the river and fresh air – the only reason why one would stay there in the first place. The management only restricts smoking in the rooms but the shared balconies and picnic area overlooking the river seem to be the designated smoking areas. We left early since we were unable to open any windows and enjoy the clean fresh air without being inundated by everyone’s cigarette smoke. My advice is to stay away if you don’t smoke.

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/27/06
Peaceful, relaxing, the river was a plus, great host, friendly helpful people. great location if you plan to visit Sequoia National. The room was spacious, with good view, rive ran next to lodge, and was great for the kids to explore.

Quiet, clean little place at the enterence to Sequoia National Park
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/15/06
Buckeye Tree Lodge has been at Gateway in Three Rivers as long as I can remember. It was likely built in the 50's sometime. It would just be average were it not for the location, right on the Kaweah River next to a historic bridge at the enterence to Sequoia National Park, and the exceptional service of the current owners. There is a place to eat right on the river near by at Gateway Lodge.
