Pullman Eindhoven Cocagne, Eindhoven

We stayed at the Sofitel Cocagne as it appeared to offer a luxurious accommodation in a great location. The location was great but the luxury was not. The rooms were old and dingy. For 5 days of our 8 day stay, the hallways were filled with the smell of sewage starting around 5am and lasting until 12 am. This smell seeped into our room and lasted until the evening. The hotel has an admitted problem stopping guests from smoking in the rooms so our first room stank of stale cigarettes. The highly touted fitness center can only be used by appointment. Do not expect to get your choice of times. Found this extremely limiting and guests with concurrent appointments were vying for the same equipment making workouts tense and hurried. The hotel management was unwilling to negotiate a price break over the hallway stench and smoking issue - they offered a free drink (1 drink - what an insult when spending 120 EU a night for 8 nights!). It was a heroic effort to get them to compensate us for 35 EU of internet services. Our bill contained over 150 EU of breakfast and minibar charges which we did not incur. They did remove them but I have stayed at hotels all over the world and have never seen so many erroneous charges on one bill. All in all, the Cocagne is viewed as the best hotel in Eindhoven but falls short on service and quality. I am sure there is better value elsewhere.

This hotel is located in the center of the city. It is within walking distance to train station, many pubs and restaraunts, museums and major highways. The hotel has extremely polite and professional employees, good food and a popular bar. The rooms are adequate with all the amenities you would expect.
