Don't take your girlfriend there for a romantic week-end
I have traveled the world, and the Westlodge gave me the impression of an ex-Soviet hotel in rural Russia . Rusting rubbish bin in the bathroom, 'hot' and 'cold' indicators on the taps are lost, bath has deep rusted chips, towels are stained. The rooms are noisy, and you can hear every person walking up or down the passage at night. Our room overlooked the main road, but fortunately I am used to the noise of traffic.
(In all fairness, in Russia I was handed my bedding as I checked in, and I had to make my own bed on moving in…)
On the plus-side. The personnel serving breakfast is extremely friendly (like most Irish people I have met on my trip). I enjoyed the typical Irish breakfast served, but people who suffer from high cholesterol should definitely beware…
