Thistle Lancaster Gate, London

Room was cramped and shabby( wallpaper peeling off the wall, drapes stained; tv reception poor (no CNN tho advertised)one luggage rack ..two very large suitcases would not fit in the room we were given (unless opened on the bed).Bathtub's high sides made it extremely difficult for an elderly person to use.Our stay included a meal plan and we had to "debate" with management 3 times to receive it. However, dining room served a delicious lamb entree; breakfast buffet was more than ample; concierges were extremely helpful,hairdyers in bath a plus. Location is wonderful: tube stops in either direction and one can actually walk to the train station if up to a 20 minute jaunt; Notting Hill nearby. Location is worth the other drawbacks.

Excelent location near Lancaster Gate tube and in front of Hide Park (when we arrived London, my girlfriend and me began our weekend having a walk in Hide Park, and it was very relaxing!). in a very quite area. It is very well comunicated by direct line bus too(to Picadilly, Candem and Victoria, for ex.). All services have and excelent quality/price relation!

We were very disappointed with this hotel. We had to queue to be seated for breakfast which took ages, then queue for the buffet. The tea and coffee was barely warm and the pots came with saucers for lids. However, the worst thing was noise from a party in the restaurant below our room, and although we complained to the management and asked that the music be turned down nothing was done. This noise went on until 2 am! We would definitely not use this hotel again.

I took my mother to London for a long weekend. She hadn't been before and this hotel was recommended to me by a friend. The location was excellent with easy excess to the tube at Lancaster Gate. The room was very comfortable and had a high quality of cleanliness with fresh towels every day. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful in every way and my mother and myself thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to any of my family and friends and look forward to returning in the New Year and also for future visits. Christina

This is great Hotel. Wonderful Location and a wonderful example of a London Neighborhood.

I stayed at this hotel during my first trip to London. I was very pleased with the service. It is right next to the Queensway Tube stop, which made getting around the city a breeze once I learned the Underground map. The showers are very tricky though, but that was my sole complaint.

When we arrived we were sent to our room, facing away from the park. We decided we wanted a room with a view of the park (and were willing to pay the difference) so we called downstairs. They immediately swiched us to a room with a stunning view, at no extra charge...even after we insisted on paying.

THe location is perfect, near the park (obviously) near Picadilly, Notting Hill and almost everything in central London. Next time we go back to the UK we're going to stay in one of their hotels.
