Location, Little Else
The hotel has lovely public areas. After that, unless you pay a small fortune you are out of luck. The walls and ceiling were cracked, bed hard as a rock. Carpet was threadbare. Bathroom featured a very tall tub shower you had to step up 6 inches into, a shower curtain that did not extend the full length of the tub, but much hot water, thankfully, was available. Water pipes banged throughout the night, but other than that, room was very quiet.
Amenities were nonexistent. A tiny room was open for luncheon, indoors. The lovely patio and dinner restaurant advertised were closed. Staff, while congenial, had no suggestions on food, or anything else.
The location is magnificent. If you plan to spend over $500 or so per night and get the top of the line room, might be worth it. Anyone not amazingly rich, find a better hotel. My May 2006 stay will be my last. Lots of hotels in that vicinity, and I can't see how any of them could be worse than Hotel Regina.
