What an experience !
By ,
What a fabulous place. Hotel and staff excellent - you want for nothing - but you have to pay for it. If you do not want to pay for it stay away and leave it for the likes of me to enjoy!! you have to see it as an experience. the best is being served on the beach by the waiters - wow!! Although the prices are very expensive - you are in cannes at one of the best hotels there. it was a fabulous experience, one which we will probably never do again ( it was our 20th wedding anniversary) and definately a conversation stopper when you come back home. It was worth every penny/pound/euro whatever!! Have a fabulous time but remember do not bother if you are counting the pennies - you will only see it as a waste. This is definately a treat.

Nice Hotel
By ,
Just back from Cannes, This is a nice hotel but because of the week dollar it is very expensive for Americans. $50 dollar breakfsst, $40 dollar salad, $50 dollars for a lounge chair at the beach, and believe it or not $40 dollars for a lounge chair around the pool. Have Fun!

The Martinez has lost its glory, 15 years ago was the last update to this 5 star. The rooms are not only dated but musty and mildew in smell. The fabric wall paper is tarnished in grey and black soot. The A/C vents are surrounded with mildew. The furniture repainted in white paint and scuffed. The beds and linens are from a Travel Lodge. The bathroom also smelled like sewage back up from the sink after you flushed a toilet. Ugh! Thought is was only one room, but my kids two other rooms are the same on different floors. Stay away from the interior rooms. The hotel has special rate offers like second room at 50% off, and if you book through Amex you get credits and upgrades. All worthless! If you are traveling from te US and make it here after 10-14 hrs of total travel time, you will be disappointed! I am checking out after one night, i could not cancel due to the 48 hr cancellation policy. Watch out for conference pricing as well. Leading Hotels of the World and Amex should pull their accreditation. You always run into one of these bombs if you travel, who would have thought Cannes' Martinez. What a waste of money and time on precious vacation…

Hotel Martinez - Overated
By ,
I just returned from a stay at the Hotel Martinez. I cannot recommend this hotel as anything more than three stars, average hotel. The hotel's best feature is it's location on La Croisette, the main avenue where all the action/people watching occurs. The rooms were mediocre (I had two since I brought my family while I attended a conference.) Sagging beds, shabby covers, broken TVs detracted from our stay. The food was mediocre and meals were consistently delivered not as we ordered. The breakfast buffet is excellent but the seating leaves much to be desired. There is no hotel shop for newspapers and such. The pool spots must be reserved and are charged for half or full day. Many were upset that the pool closed at 6pm! while the sun was still glaring and hot. Ridiculous. One day the pool was closed due to a private corporate party. If you choose the hotel's beach across the street (and enjoy feeling like a sardine) you must pay separately for the beach and the pool. While I had a fabulous time in Cannes, I will stay at another hotel on La Croisette next visit. This hotel needs to be upgraded to be considered beyond average for the very expensive rates it charges. Keep looking.

WOW
By ,
I loved this hotel soooo much. Everything was great. The people, the hotel, the service, the louge was beautiful. The location was in a great area. My room was more than I expected. There are only two things I did not like about my room the bed was actually 2 beds made into one, and the TV was small but I wasnt looking at to much of that...... Must stay here!!!!!

Ne plus ultra of Riviera hospitality
By ,
Whether you have come to Cannes looking for the chic film festival crowd or the not-quite-bygone deco-era glamor, the Martinez won't disappoint. The lobby is not as impressive as the Carlton's, but the captivating bar, terrific pool, reserved beach, and elegant room with fantastic marble bath soon persuade you that you've made the right choice. Your Riviera fantasies will be fulfilled!
