Hotel Solana, La Massana

Hotel was in a good location for the Skiing Gondola, but the condition of the rooms were basic and the service woeful in places. Food was "school canteen" quality, and the breakfast routine was an assault course of collecting food and cutlery from illogical areas of the "restaurant" room. One major annoyance was the storage of ski gear which was never made clear from the start. In short: Storage of Ski gear is always Extra, sometimes up to 40 euro a week. Avoid room 112, as it is above the kitchen. Hotel was habitable for a week. Would suit families with young teenagers!

I arrived at the Hotel Solana in Arinsal, Andorra after reading some web reviews of the hotel - those reviews had filled me with some trepidation but soon after arrival I found most of what I had read to be very unfair and not at all what I experienced. I had a wonderful time with a value for money hotel, very friendly and helpful staff and excellent buffet meals - lots of choice and constantly refilled from the kitchen - I cannot reconcile some of these web reviews with my experience - go there, enjoy the facilities (including a swimming pool (decent size and so refreshing after a day walking in the magnificent local mountains)with a first class sauna and also steam room - it may be different for skiers but for walkers I recommend this hotel for a super base for your break - again, I repeat that it is superb value for money Douglas Anderson

Read lots of negative reviews about hotel, but all are unfounded in our experience. Just back from a week in the hotel and our only moan is that dinner is at eight in the evening and a bit late for children. Room in the new wing more than adequate for a family of four. Plenty of space for all our clothes and cleaned everyday. The pool was a bit on the cold side, but full of children everytime I was down there. For a reasonable place to sleep, close to the gondola and all amenities this hotel is okay. Would recommend and go back again.

The Hotel is basic but comfortable and the food is good. There are two bars one for families and one for young people. Nighlife is good. Hotel is close to the Gondola. Skiing is excellent.

The standard rooms are extremely small (about 10'x10') the ensuite bathrooms laughable---we could not sit on the toilet and close the door, tiles broken or missing, wash-basin cracked, lampshade burnt, light switch broken & dangerous. we booked with inghams who simply gave me a complaints form, the management of the hotel pointed out (very reasonabley) that the tour companies knew what the rooms were like & still they block booked them

I read a number of mixed reviews prior to my trip but because of the cost we went with it. First impression was OK however, once we started to unpack in a triple room we soon realised there was neer enough no room to get our luggage out and be able to move. Worringly there were bare wires in the bathroom where a lightswitch should have been, not at all child friendly and I was told by other guests that this was the case in there rooms too. Meal time was a complete free for all. Buffet usually consists of chips, meat dish, fish dish, and some random sides. None of the dishes appear to mix with each other. Sprouts were the only vegetable available on the first night. Desert consists of canned pineapple and peaches and Angel Delight, awful. We ate out after the second night. On a more positive note, the location is great for the gondola up to the slopes. I did not encounter any problems with the water supply as in other reviews I have read. I will return to Arinsal but not the Solana.

Simply dire. Dirty, tired-looking, food appalling, noisy, staff rude and unhelpful. You couldn't pay me to stay here again. Decor out of the sixties, signs telling you not to steal food/ towels, rooms underheated, pool and running water cold. Avoid at all costs - try the St Gothard, Princesa Parc or a chalet.

This hotel made our vacation nearly perfect. Friendly staff, room and bathroom nice and clean, breakfast more than enough and dinner ... lots of choice of vegetables, meat, fish, potatoes, chips, desserts and pasta's. Thanks to the hotel for the service we'll meet again

My visit to Arinsal, Andorra was the best holiday I've ever been on. Staying at Hotel Solana was absolutly ideal, it was close to the bottom of the mountain for skiing&snowboarding. It was situated around all the good nightlife, and had a really friendly atmosphere about it. The food was quite poor, but there was pleanty of good resaurants to eat at. The bar down stairs 'Barsolana' was incredible, the best bar in Andorra. There were different things going on down there each night, and was always something happening. We had a balcony in our room which was great to wake up and look out at the mountains. Overall I can't wait to go back to Hotel Solana next year!!!

It is probably the worst hotel I ever been, the rooms seem to be inspired in the rooms of the 19 Th century serviliants. Be very carefull with everything you ask for, even to change room, because they will ask you for an extra payment. This place shouldnet be called a 3* hotel, but a 0* place to stay on vacation.
