Location is very central. Frontdesk and planning office very helpfull. Now , that I'm returning, hope to get help for booking a room for me... ....and ,if possible, not too noisy.

Nice hotel in the city

This was a nice place to stay, but there are a lot of hustlers along the Avenida Central. I'm not sure it is the best family place to stay, but it is certainly well priced and clean.

Amazed

I've been to several latin american cities and have oftentimes been disappointed by 4 star hotels with 5 star prices which are very unimpressive. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. For ~ $70, I had a beautiful room, luxurious king bed, impressive bathroom with marble tile, great breakfast buffet and a very friendly staff. It was an excellent value without exception. And for you single guys, hang out in the hotel lobby for an half hour or so and you will see some of the most attractive women you've EVER seen in your life walking through the lobby.

Best Hotel for your money

This hotel has everything you need!! Great Employees ,good food & Bar and best of all great location. This hotel is right in downtown. 200 yards away is the Famous "Blue Marlin bar" For the Price it's untouchable. I will definately be back!!!

Great place to stay in downtown

At the heart of San Jose, the hotel provides you with much more than a "value-for-money" accommodation. The room is nice and clean, furnished with tropical style beds. Fully air-conditioned. The staff is nice and courteous. We arrived late and had money change (though the exchange counter was closed) and all information we needed at Reception in midnight. The semi-open bar is a good place to watch people (students in the morning and casino-goers at night) and to dine/have a drink. Good food, especially the custom made omelet. It is not a 5-star luxurious hotel but it just does everything right making a traveller feels good.

The best of the best

the service is more than wonderful, the rooms are beautiful and very clean,the location is very smart 'cause everything is close to the hotel. The staff is super, the guys in the frontdesk are amazing, housekipping are the nicest people ever, the chicas and guys at the restaurant are # 1

Outstanding

The hotel Presidente is an oustanding hotel in terms of location, service, rooms, and resturant and bar. I always stay in a junior suite for $79. They have a new SKY BAR for watching football. Breakfast is included in the room rate and the NEWS CAFE is great for people watching. Combination safes in all rooms. It is the best hotel in downtown area.

Outstanding

The hotel Presidente is the nicest modern hotel downtown and is not as stuffy as the gran hotel around the corner. Fully air conditioned and in the middle of the avenidad central. walking distance to most everything. This hotel would serve my needs as a tourist or business traveler and is clean. I prefer the rooms on the back side of the hotel facing the mountains with a wonderful view. the front rooms however face the street and the vendors begin very early in the morning. breakfast included a custom made omelet and fresh fruit.

Three-time Return Guest

If you go by the guide books, you may miss out on this hotel, probably because its not "off the beaten path" or Costa Rican in flavor. But there's plenty of cultural experiences to be had outside the hotel--I speak fluent spanish and love to mix with locals, but still appreciate comfort and familiarity at the end of each day. The rooms are beautiful and reasonably priced. After trekking around Costa Rica for 6 weeks, taking salt water showers, tip toeing over insects, and dealing with poor service, I cant tell you how much I value hot water, air conditioning, cable tv, and a competant staff.(Bear in mind my husband and I always stay in a suite). All the city's major attractions are in walking distance or a short bus ride away. My only complaints are a lack of dresser space, and if you eat in the cafe by the windows, be prepared for aggressive pan handlers and street vendors.
