Nice clean hotel with free internet and a casino. I didn't go to the casino, but it's nearby if you want it. Breakfast was great, and the location is top notch to the central downtown area. Walking distance to the National Theater and the GOld Museum. Street vendors set up on the pedestrian mall at night. Pharmacy just across the street. Do be prepared for some of the beggars who target the tourists outside the hotel. Mini bar in the room and a fridge.

Excellent Service

I just stayed there with my family. I recommend this Hotel for being very clean, rooms were confortable and service was very good. Staff very helpful, maps for free at de Front Desk.

excellant location,fablous food,great people. the service was always good,room service was expiediant and good. the wait staff were pleasant and helpful. the only regret is hotel would not allow more than one lady at a time in my room.

Grreat Hotel

The Hotel Presedente was re-modeled around 10 years ago making it one of the nicest Hotels in downtown San Jose. They have minisuites as well as large suites and single rooms for a reasonable price. They have a roof top hot tub which you must reserve. The bar and restaurant are great for people watching and the initial over make of the restaurant was overseen by an American and the staff was trained by him also. The food is great and if you get the desire for a good ole homestyle hamburger, there is no place that has one better than the Presidente. I have been here for 16 years so I know that to be a fact. The staff is friendly and honest and youdo not have to worry about theft in your room. I highly recomend this hotel if youwant to be down town San Jose.

Will stay again!

The food in the Cafe was awesome! the rooms nig and it has everything I needed. If you want anything, just ask the front desk. If you want to use the hot tub on the roof, make sure you book it ahead of time. A++++++++++ For the money this place is great.

President Hotel for the discriminating traveller

This hotel offers clean rooms and secure facilities in the center of San Jose. There is a great restaraunt across the street on the pedestrian-only entrance. Security at the hotel is excellent - guests are allowed but they must register with guest services which checks their ID against a database of known trouble makers. The only negative about the Presidente is the difficulty getting around San Jose streets to find it - that is a San Jose problem not really a Presidente problem. The hotel has numerous "double" rooms and it is very difficult to get a room with a king size bed - reserve well in advance and tip well at the front desk.

Great central place

Great Hotel with friendly staff. It's clean, affordable and hospitable. I wouldn't recommend this for families with kids. Downtown San Jose is not the place for families at night. The benefit of staying here is the proximity to many of the major sites and shopping areas. I go to CR several times a year and the Presidente is a favorite of mine.

Excellent Hotel

Apon my arrive and checking in at the Hotel Presidente I went to the lovely sidewalk bar. From here I was able to sit back and enjoy some local beer and watch the crowds of people come along. I also met some of the most amazing people in the same place. The hotel gladly held onto my luggage for 4 days so I could take a bus across Costa Rica and not have to carry a lot. I do highly recommend this hotel for a stay in San Jose.

The Best Place in San Jose

The hotel is at the center of the town. You can simply walk to all of the tourist spots, go shopping, have a beer at there new skybox bar. For you man out there, its a block away from Blue Marlin Bar. The staff are friendly and courteous. I will be back in this hotel.

Great Hotel & Perfect Location

I was extremely pleased during my recent stay at Hotel Presidente. The exterior does not look like anything special, and my experience with this hotel exceeded my expectations. The staff in the reception, restaurant, and bar were wonderful and attentive. There is a great restaurant on the lower level, News Cafe, which is perfect for people watching or just enjoying the complimentary breakfast. You can walk right out of the hotel doors onto the Avenida Central, which is a pedestrian-only street. The National Theatre is just a 2 - 3 minute walk away down Avenida Central. I would highly recommend this hotel and I will definitely include Hotel Presidente in my future plans.
