Ramon's Village Resort, San Pedro

Not anything against the place. Its nice, and clean and in a great location. But for the price -- you don't get much! If you are looking to spend less - stay at the Holiday Hotel. You get a Beachfront property in San Pedro, in the middle of town, nothing fancy -but you don't need fancy in San Pedro ---its a no shoes, no shirt, no problem kind of place! For $70 there, versus $200 at Ramon's - a wise investment!

I was so relieved when we drove into the resort, it was beautiful. It is so hard to tell through the internet. It is this lush tropical resort, with flowering trees and plants, while being right on the beach. This resort is a collection of thatched roof cabana "neighborhoods", connected by little sand paths. The staff are so kind and helpful. The beach is large, well maintained, and beautiful. The dive shop is right off the pier, so easy to walk out and go on a dive/snorkeling trip. The resort provides clean ice and drinking water to your room always, so you don't have to waste money on water. Ask the airport when you arrive, and the hotel will send a golf cart to pick you up. You do hear the airplanes start up, for like 3 seconds, we were never awakened by them. We did have some road noise in our cabana, so it you have to have quiet, request a beachfront room. We avoided the restaurant, based on prior reviews, except for drinks, although breakfast was good. There were hardly any bugs either, I don't know if it was the season, but had no problem with mosquitos. It is perfect walking distance down the beach to town, which is nice not to have to rent a golf cart, and restaurants are easy to walk to. Caramba's was ok. We ate at both Elvi's and Blue Water Grill TWICE, the food was delicious. Entrees run around $10-12. Don't miss D and E icecream, the best on the island near Caramba's. It was a relief that the food was good, and safe, we were happy not to get foodpoisoning! Take a golf cart and drive around the island. We felt safe walking around at night. Take sundresses and capris, with flipflops and sandals, keep your heels at home, all roads are sand. The chicken drop on Wednesday's is strangely funny. Snorkeling at Hol Chan/Shark Ray Alley was amazing. Also don't miss Tres Coco's and Mexican Rocks. Overall it was a great vacation, we felt lucky with the hotel, the staff, cleanliness, and beach were better than some hotels we saw, and although not the 4 seasons, it was a nice resort. I would recommend it.

We stayed one night at Ramon's before heading to Cayo Espanto. The night at Ramon's was fun and relaxing. The location is ideal- close to town yet on the outskirts. We walked to a nearby restaurant and then into town for a Saturday night of dancing. It was so easy to walk back to our room. Other reviews talk about the planes, but it's not a big deal. Little planes come in and out during the day, but it never felt disruptive. The beaches are beautiful and the pool was clean and well-maintained. All in all a great night in San Pedro!

+ Beautiful place, great service, nice rooms (AC, fan, hot water, no TV), near airport. - A little south of most restaurants, kind of "resorty", expensive compared to other nice hotels (even the scuba is a little exensive) Overall, best place on the island, but with that comes the expense.

We stayed at Ramon's Village in Jan 05. Its' a beautiful tropical resort with a great laid back barefoot atmosphere. We literally were barefoot the entire trip, even dined barefoot in the nicest restaurants during the evening along with other barefoot patrons. Leave the dockers and sandles at home. Shorts,tees and swim wear is the norm for the day. San Pedro town, located in walking distance of Ramon's is a quiant little town with all sand streets, thus everybody is barefoot, shop keepers, workers as well as tourists. We had a beautiful view of the ocean from our beachfront suite. The food was a bit pricy but all food on any island is usually that way. Service great. Romantic atmosphere great. We'll go back.

My wife and I stayed in this resort last month. I had no idea what to expect and were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness, excellent service and manners of everyone in the resore and the town. Everyone was helpfull, the food was great. The bartenders are crazy. The only thing that we didn't like was the proximity of the airport but it wasn't like jets were flying in and out and it was only a small inconvenience. I'll go back next year.Bob and Caryn Rixey,

Ramons is a delicious and wonderful place to hang out and eat, drink and be merry. The service was phenominal and I will be back and back and back!!

had a great experience at Ramon's. Some guests were unhappy with noise level because resort is near airstrip. although the planes do not fly in the evening, they do fly early in the morning. traffic noises can be heard as well. however, staff and activities were top notch. i can't wait to go back.
