What a Beach !!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/25/09
We were at the Belair from Sept 12 2009 to Sept 19 2009. We lucked out because the weather was fabulous. It rained the day we left. We were very impressed with this hotel. The beach is the best I've ever been on, and we travel at least twice a year and have hit almost every island. Because we were there in Sept the place was almost empty, which meant the beach had maybe 20 people at any given time. The units are very clean and they remove the garbage every day! We didn't see any little critters during our stay. Now don't get me wrong, this is not the Ritz, however the units are big, the view is fantastic, our king bed was very comfortable. You do need a car if you're going to stay here. I suggest you go with an opened mind and you'll have a great time.

We were very disappointed with Belair
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/14/08
We have a timeshare that hasn't lived up to their advertisements and went from a Gold Crown to two stars. The pool has been dry two times we visited --no warning. The rooms are antiquated and not up to standards they advertise. The staff moves slooow and expects reward. They have an employee of the month election and haven't shown me an employee that deserves it. The staff appears to have catfights at times. There seems to be no attempt to please clients. The cleanup after Omar 20081016 which only brushed the island left debris that just laid around for two weeks. Two east 1st floor rooms were damaged including glass doors broken. Specifically trash and glass were not cleaned up outside the room two weeks after the storm. The room we have has worn, chipped poor quality tile. Ants in kitchen all the time. MBDR furniture delaminating and sub standard. We can understand the hurricane factor but not the remediation response factor. Grounds cleanup including glass shards, cigarette filters, general raking. Safety: The smoke detector was dismantled. The spiral staircase on the east end was dismantled from the second floor to the ground. The RULES book read as regimented and unfriendly. The foot rinses and grounds showers were inoperational two weeks after the storm. An easy hose hookup and footbaths could have been rigged reasonably and quickly. Neither Belair nor RCI warned us of substandard facilities/services/safety. They claim a debt free org. but exhibit no benefits as a result. I'm not impressed.

Great location, comfrotable room
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/10/08
Location, location, location. Can't beat the beach, ease of access to airport, downtown. The view is to die for. I'm at Belair right now, looking out my window to the balcony (about a 30 foot long veranda with floor to ceiling window sliders opening to it). I'm seeing a sunset you want to photograph. This morning as I awakened and walked out to the livingroom, I saw a huge cruise ship float past my view. So...you come for the beach, the view, the comfortable bed, newly retiled bath, new livingroom furniture, etc. You don't come for the staff or the exterior of the building. The elevator hasn't seen any cleaning in a while, paint is badly needed. Staff LIED to me about wifi access--simply said they didn't have any wifi cards to buy. When I asked if I could access the internet any other way from my room they said no. After I discovered I simply needed to go into internet explorer and type in my credit card and it was a go, they told me that they don't mention that because "they don't get a commission as they do from the cards, and they are out of cards." You are assigned a lounge chair on the beach--doesn't mean you can't move it, but assures you don't have to get up early to grab one. Staff readily hands out towels at the beach, without micromanaging them. The pool is very mini--almost forget about it. But the beach is clean, sandy, safe to swim....just perfect. So...forget it if you want luxury. Come here if you get a timeshare exchange or good deal, have a sense of humor, and enjoy a comfortable, adequate two bedroom (2 bath) unit and soak up the view and the beach.

Excellent Place to Stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/14/07
I stayed at the Belair Beach Resort for a New England get away from the cold. The staff is very helpful. Upon checking in you can choose your beach chair, label it with your unit number and dates. You don't have to worry about getting to the beach early to get a seat. I did sign up for a massage and the person came to my room price was very reasonable and service was great

We love BelAir
By Lynn, 8/9/07
We have been owners for about 15 years and look forward to staying every year. It is the second t/s we own in St. Maarten and is very different because it is quiet and clean. The staff is great and greet us like family. The apartments are cleaned everyday. There is a great restaurant and a small general store on site and the resort is within walking distance of Phillipsburg. Also, there is 24 hour security. Being on the 1st floor we are able to take less than 10 steps to be on the well-maintained beach and the views are spectacular. I highly recommend it unless you are looking for something very glamorous.

It was OK
By Rosa, 3/28/07
I went to this hotel in 2003. It was OK, not the fanciest, not the most luxurious, but the beach was gorgeous!! Food was good and service too. I would suggest they remodel their rooms as it has an 80s look.

Stay away
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/27/06
My family have a time share and they booked it at Belair Beach Resort at St. Maarten. It was the worst experience so far. There was no hot water in the room, ONly one lamp was working. Linen were dirty and damp. There were dirty utensils in the kitchen and beach was not cleaned for a while. It was impossible to get attention from the staff to fix lamp and change linen. Hotels hall was full of people who was not a hotel guests. We had to call our time share customer service and change our hotel. We changed to LaVista hotel, which was excellent.

Very Good experience
By LUIS, 5/19/06
I stayed there in May 2006 with my timeshare. Suites are confortables and clean. Kitchen full equiped.TV sets are smalls. People in service are cooperatives. Good security. All suites with beachfront view. Beach chair are free for guests but some of them reserve their position in advance for all week. Overall, it was a wonderful vacation.

Needed Break
By CresentMoon75, 12/29/05
In the end I actually liked this little place. Granted it's not like Divi Little Bay next door that has 3 pools, and incredible landscaping etc... The staff at Belair were great, very personalable and helpful actually too. Yes there is a small pool, but it all depends on what your on the Island to do- Just go to the beach, or not, this is a nice little place, our timeshare was a two bedrooms and 2 full baths with plenty of space for 4 of us- If you don't care about having the top of the line, and getting a good deal, since SXM is so small, this would be the place to stay then

Will not go back....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/28/05
We are part of the RCI timeshare network and selected Belair Beach based on it being a Gold Crown rating (highest level). The amenities were average and the condo was not maintained well; e.g, the need for paint, kitchen cabinets were off the hinges, phone jack pulled from the wall. I'm writing this for two reasons; 1. to bring awareness to those who are contemplating this resort. 2. in hope that the management heeds this (as well as my feedback directly to them) to better improve this resort. Just being in St. Maartin is a fantastic experience - the resort should only complement this experience
