We love Decameron BUT?
By Elvis, 1/30/12
My wife and I spent two weeks at this hotel, and had a lovely time. The staff were very friendly and the entertainment was good most of the time. The food was delicious and varied, and we loved the fact they are now introducing Jamaican delicacies to the menu. As a Jamaican who have lived abroad for many years, its obvious that when I return I would be eager to see my family. That was one of the few bad experiences that we had, as my family came to visit and there was no where provided for them. All the other resorts that we stayed at , there was always somewhere for guests to sit with their visitors. There was also a misunderstanding with the day and night passes as one of my family members wanted to stay one night to celebrate my wife's birthday with us, but she was told she would have to leave at 2am as a result, we had to go elsewhere to celebrate my wife's birthday. without my family member. To me a day pas should be a day pass and a night pass should be for an overnight stay. No one wants to leave at two o'clock in the morning as that could be dangerous. . Back to the entertainment, we really enjoyed what was on offer but why stop at 10.30pm. We enjoy dancing, but weren't given the chance. Every thing seems to be geared around the younger people, as they can go to the disco, when the older ones have to go to bed. After all, we are on holiday. Apart from that we had a lovely time and would definitely go back hoping that these issues will be resolved. We would like to name a few of the staff that were very welcoming and served us very well. They are Zulu, QQ Nobel, and Patishia. We would also like to add,how happy my wife was that for the first time in a Caribbean hotel, she didn't get bitten by mosquitoes. By the way Kids activities need reviewing as they haven't even got a swimming pool .I hope Decameron continues to improve, and we'll be back, God willing.

WE LOVED IT !!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/25/12
I am from Jamaica but I am living in the states now. I went down to Jamaica to view properties for my wedding and I liked this place alot. The staff were warm and caring towards us and I really did appreciate that. I had 38 guests at my wedding and they all loved it, the food was great except for the dessert but then again we did not complain, it was fairly cheap for all- inclusive. I want to say a special thank you to the wedding co-ordinator and the food and beverage mananger who helped to make our trip extra special:) Patrice & Austin October 1, 2011.

Not up to par
By Sherri, 7/20/11
I must say that we were quite disappointed in the resort. The staff was extremely friendly and appreciative of tips. The resort itself was worn out. They were always painting (with no WET PAINT signs) and cleaning but it definitely is OLD. The rooms were below average with no refrigerators or mini bars. The cable TV had alot of static and the bathrooms were gross. The first room we stayed in was directly across from the pool and swim up bar. This room was so noisy that we could not even watch TV during the "siesta" hours. We were able to switch rooms to the quieter side of the resort (Sunset side) and it was much more enjoyable and modern. The entertainment is non-existent! This resort is so boring at night that we were in bed by 10 PM. The worst part was the food. (or lack thereof). Maybe we were spoiled by staying at other 4-5 star resorts but we were not prepared for what we found. The food was minimal. No variety whatsoever. I think I lost 5 lbs on this vacation. Most resorts have some sort of snack or drink area 24/7 but this resort had breakfast, lunch and dinner....period! They did have a nice A la Carte restaurant and that was our saving grace for three nites. Thankfully the resort is located right on the main shopping strip where they have a casino and Margaritaville. This was our only entertainment. I could not wait to go home from this resort. It is located on a beautiful beach which is the ONLY attribute of this resort.

Nickel and dime
By Rohan, 4/25/11
I did not like the fact that my father visited me and could not come past the gate. He brought friends and family with him that i have seen in over 20 years and they very rejected like scum.. I was very embarassed Im from Jamaica and i was ashamed how the Hotel treated my family. i didnot like how the Hotel nickel and dimed us $2 for a security box key (never in my travels have ever paid for a security key) the charge would have been $100 US to replace a room key that was lost. $25 US to replace a towel card... REALLY ..... THAT SUCKS..... You really dont have to do that you will always get Tourists that will come back to visit you because you have a PRIME location..... I am planning to return this year (Oct 2011) for my birthday and this time im planning to bring at least 12 friends with me and i dont think i will be staying at your resort.... NO WAY..... I spent too mush money while i was there for treatment like that.... i understand the rule regarding guests but after hours when no food or drinks is being served that is a little rediculus.... again loved my stay but those little problems were a little to much for me to come back..... PS I loved the fact that you were walking distance to the clubs and shopping ... again you have a VINTAGE SPOT but it is over shadowed but thenickel and dime stuff.... YOU DONT NEED TO DO THAT...

We would go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/13/11
This resort's best feature was it's bar staff, kitchen, and housekeeping. Always helpful, smiling and interested in you. The front desk seems to be where some issues need to be addressed. When we arrived the staff was very accomodating but when our flight didn't leave until 10 pm we had no where to go to rest or cleanup etc. When asked for a room for a day due to my husbands bad knee which was dislocated the second day we were there, or for our daughter who was pregnant, we were flatly told no, nothing could be done unless we paid $25 each. Yet, a couple on the same flight were given a room as they had children! not quite fair in my opinion. The food was good. The staff nurse was exceptional!!! She was very caring and looked after hubby by getting the doctor in and making him comfortable. She deserves the most that she can be paid for her job. The entire resort was very clean. I am not sure of how the entertainment worked as it wasn't very reliable, it was featured in one place on the announcement board but took place somewhere else. All in all we had a very nice time, loved the ambiance, staff and closeness to the airport. We would go back again. Good value for the money, definitely a 3 star.

Clean and Close to the Hip Strip
By DCBriscoe, 7/9/10
The front desk staff were not the friendliest that I have run across in my travels. I had problems with my reservation prior to arrival, was told that it was correct, but upon check-in, it had not been fixed and they treated me as if I had done something wrong. The resort is very clean, although your room may not get made up until 4:30 p.m. The food was average, the pool-side staff were excellent, the entertainment was sub-par although the entertainment department was very nice. If you are looking for a resort with a lot of things to keep you occupied at the resort, this is not the place for you. I would recommend it only if someone is looking for a place close to the strip. It was only worth the money for me because I got it at a great discount. I would not stay there and pay full price, mostly because the activities were so limited. If you want clean, close to hip strip and just need rest...this is the place for you. By the way, there is a great tour office that is associated with this property that is just outside the front of the resort.

great for first timers
By afrotexican, 6/4/08
The location in Mobay is perfect! Lots of shopping nearby. Be ready to bargain and they WILL be persistent. Be respectful when you don't want to buy something and they will show you respect in turn. There is a small restaurant just outside of the resort that is absolutely to-die-for if you are looking for authentic cuisine. The buffets at the restaurants are always plentiful. Good for vegans and carnivores. Coffee first thing in the morning is always hot and delicious. I have been to the resort with groups and alone, and have always been treated like royalty. Things move slowly down there, so have patience. Nothing is done in the American "five minutes or less" pace. The beachfront has changed since my earlier visits to the resort formerly known as "Jack Tar." The upgrades are nice though. Night life and entertainment on the resort is always fun. They will provide transportation to the nightclubs nearby. Catching a cab is fun. The drivers are hilarious! Try to get one in the daytime, and use him again for excursions or your trips into town. They are very reliable. Most have a/c and sometimes a frosty beverage. Best of all, this all-inclusive resort is affordable. I can definitely say I have always gotten my money's worth. Happy Travels, afro-texican.
